Highschoolbassin Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Hey me, my father and my friend are gonna be on chickamauga the second week of March and was wondering if anyone could give any tips as to what to try or things to look for? Thank you Quote
Fishing-Vol Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Water levels are up and down with the rains. Stay between the channel markers when on plane. The lake is already crowded and everyone will be stacked in the mouths of creeks. But two weeks is a long time to speculate on patterns, this time of year. You will read about 25 to 40 pound bags, but you don't see that 90% caught zero that day. Now for an answer....lol. Traps, swimbaits, cranks, and A-rigs should lead the way. Watch the TVA site for water level. It's up 2' with this rain, and if you were here this weekend I would say hit the banks. If you have Humminbird electronics and a lakemaster card, you'll be fine. 1 Quote
Highschoolbassin Posted February 26, 2016 Author Posted February 26, 2016 Thanks for the info. Do you think if the water stays up the fish will be shallow? I've been watching the weather forecast for the next couple of weeks and it seems like theirs gonna be at least one thunderstorm a week. I'm thinking this will keep the water level up? Will the fish pull out if the water level falls? Quote
Fishing-Vol Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I don't think the level will stay up. TVA.gov is your friend. Start tracking the water level, if it is stable the fish will be somewhat stable. They have dropped the level a foot in the last 48 hours. I haven't been on the water in a while, so I can't help much more than that, right now. Quote
Highschoolbassin Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Thank you. I'll be sure to stay watching it and the weather Quote
Al Wolbach Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 In TVA lakes the fish follow the water, if the water is up the fish are up and move out if the water is dropping. When you look at TVA.gov, be sure to check it the day you are fishing. If you check the generating schedule you can determine the water level trends for that time of day. If they are generating from 2-4PM the water level will be dropping around that time. If not generating then the water will be rising. The bass tend to feed when the water is moving(generating). TVA also has a apt so you can check it with your phone...BTW. In my experience, when the fish move out they may move 4-10 feet of water and if it's rising they may be on the bank in a foot of water, especially if early morning or overcast. Quote
Highschoolbassin Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 Thank you. I'll be sure to do that! Quote
Highschoolbassin Posted March 8, 2016 Author Posted March 8, 2016 Well guys I didn't do so hot this weekend. I caught 2 about 2 pounds a piece shallow. Guessing the fish are still shallow? Going back next weekend to try and redeem myself. Any tips on what I did wrong or what I should try would be much appreciated. Quote
