Ashley Dahlke Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I have a Humminbird PiranhaMax 160 portable fish finder that is maybe 6 years old. It worked great until I left it out in the cold last winter for a few months and it won't even turn on. I thought maybe the battery in my boat wasn't working but I figured that the harsh cold temperatures ruined it. It can get very cold up here in MN and I totally forgot about it. Does anyone know if it can still be fixed? I'm guessing that the electronics got ruined. I'm thinking about finding a new depth finder but am debating on the brands between Garmin, Lowrance, and Humminbird. I've read some great articles on here but just don't know where to start. I have a budget of anything between $100-$300 right now. Any input would be great! Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 24, 2016 Super User Posted February 24, 2016 That unit is still listed on the Humminbird flat rate repair list: http://www.humminbird.com/Category/Support/FAQ/RepairFees/ Quote
Sprocket Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Check electrical connections (positive and ground) before anything else. They can corrode when left hooked up for a while even if they don't look like it. SE Kansas grass grower Quote
