Canine Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I have now narrowed my choices to the dragonfly 4 or the fishin buddy max. I will be mounting this on my kayak hybrid...old town Angaler dlx 10 ( also see the vapor) The dragonfly I plan to have the mount placed in the cup holder and remove it in transport from the ball socket joint. Then modify a pvc pipe into the rod holder behind me with a T joint then a 90 degree to run the transducer down into the water. I like the dragonfly because I think the technology is better than the humminbird The fishin buddy has a C clamp that could be mounted on the side and has the batteries already installed. I have linked the products below Fishin buddy: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Humminbird-Fishin-Buddy-MAX/2205843.uts?productVariantId=4504988&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=40-155547257-2&WT.tsrc=CSE&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=04374815&rid=20 Dragonfly: http://www.cabelas.com/product/RAYMARINE-DRAGONFLY-DVS-SONAR/1916553.uts?productVariantId=4049081&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=45-144919219-2&WT.tsrc=CSE&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=04060209&rid=20 Thanks for your help. Super User webertime Posted February 23, 2016 Super User Posted February 23, 2016 The Raymarine 8 days a week. You can create a tub/bath for the Transducer and shoot through the hull. No having to deal with snagging weeds and junk with something hanging off your boat. Quote

Super User webertime Posted February 24, 2016 Super User Posted February 24, 2016 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEZ9_C1iKP0 Use a special putty (I am drawing a blank on the name) to create a little bowl that you put the Transducer in (Inside the Kayak). You put some water in it and done. Quote

Canine Posted February 26, 2016 Author Posted February 26, 2016 So duct seal or plumbers putty? Or are they the same? Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted February 26, 2016 Super User Posted February 26, 2016 both work and you don't even need the water bath. just a big wad of the putty and stick it in there. i ran one like that for two years with a Humminbird transducer for 2 years with zero issues. Quote
Canine Posted February 26, 2016 Author Posted February 26, 2016 Tha is for the tips I'll try this before ordering a couple suction cups that look like they might work. This video is just a perimeter around the transducer where other ones will have the transducer actually pressed into putty and those posts worry about air bubbles. So it seems the perimeter method is the way to try first then work my way up. Any other thoughts on that Quote
