joshmark Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I know this topic has been talked about before but the ones I found were from a while ago. So what is your guys opinions on the best casting rod around the 150-200 dollar range? I was looking at the st croix avid x cause I have a 100 dollar gift card for dicks sporting goods. But I'll spend around 200 bucks at most on a rod. I want like a 7 ft med hvy Quote
Fishin' Fool Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Questions like what is the best casting rod are really subjective. Most people have favorites based on brand loyalty. To me the best casting rod is one I got a good value rod at a discounted price. BTW you can get an IMX from Monster Fishing Tackle for around $200 with another $25 off after you sign up for their mailing list. That is a good deal. Quote
shawnmc Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Kistler Mag 2 or KLX. If you buy from Dicks then the Avid X will do the trick. Quote
Lendiesel22 Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Message Mike at DVT and get something made exactly the way you want it. Quote
Super User Raul Posted February 23, 2016 Super User Posted February 23, 2016 I like GLoomis, 200 bucks would get me a GL2. Quote

Dan_the_fisher Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Imo I like the st criox avid better then the new loomis imx, if they where both $200 I'd still pick the avid Quote

Fishin' Fool Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I think it is. Depends if the original poster thinks so. This is the same place I ordered an NRX from under $370. Quote
SMITTY0045 Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Just to throw a rod in closer to the $150 side, the Daiwa Tatula rods are fantastic for their price. They are incredibly sensitive and durable ( not to mention some of the lightest rods I've held). Highly recommend if you are looking to go toward the lower end of your price range Quote

If I hadn't bought a dumb Zillion I probably would own a couple by now. Quote

I'm gonna have to hop over to their site real quick... thanks for letting me know! Quote

Robert Riley Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I don't know anything about brand loyalty, but I sure do love Dobyns Rods. Quote
SenkoGuru Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I do not think you can beat the Duckett Micro Magic Pro and Duckett White Ice rod's, not even with Rod's costing twice as much. You should take a look at those. 1 Quote
