V38 is by far my favorite, the old version anyways. The new version of V38 (green crawdad), is much more golden while the older version was more green to olive color. Here's the two side by side, the new version on top and old version on the bottom.

Great fish Goose, but that's a brown scale craw colored wart. The V38 green crawdad doesn't have the scale pattern on the back/sides. I'm sure that new V38 catches fish too, but it sure doesn't for me. Only fish I can ever remember catching on it was a big, fat stocker rainbow. I have some in that color that a buddy painted for me on the one knocker wart blanks and they catch fish very well. He got the color perfect though.

Gotcha - I don't have the color numbers memorized. Regardless of WHICH color it is...it seems to work, catch fish...

I only know the color because I fish them in the very clear waters at Table Rock, Bull Shoals, and Beaver, where minute color differences can make all the difference. I've spent enough days watching the other guy in the boat catching fish on a very similar colored bait on those lakes to have learned that one the hard way. A lot of those days, it was V38 that was doing it while I was fishing the only wart I had (brown craw).

My favorite is the perch color (v60). It does very well for me up here in the north country. Unfortunately it hasn't been made in 15+ years.

Everyone always likes the craw colored warts and I do like the brown craw, very simple but productive. For me though, my favorite color is the new version Tennessee Shad and I'm thinking of adding the Phantom green blue craw. I find the love of the old pre Rapala wiggle wart interesting because that was my first craw colored crank that I caught fish with. Anyway, I sold those old wiggle warts to a friend for $10 each, I really needed the money otherwise I would have sold them for 5 bucks. I heard the new ones weren't any good and all the chatter and then Rapala said they were bringing back the original and so 4 years ago I grabbed a few in brown craw and Tennessee shad. Now I'm not fishing Table Rock where this new vs. old really takes place but I can tell you that in the waters I fish, the new ones work and work well, the brown craw is killer on the deeper rock flats and the shad pattern works for me on mid depth points.

The new version that is supposed to be made similar to the Pre-Rapala warts is a much better bait than when they were first reintroduced. They've done better with the new colors and the baits swim much more like the old ones did. I think that probably has something to do with why there's been a drop in the price of the originals.

I like natural green craw, phantom green craw, watermelon, natural brown craw, and phantom brown craw in the "regular/original" wart series, and bluegill, sunfish, mossy craw, and rusty craw in the "mad flash" series. All my warts are "new" ones...............my old ones are long gone, and the new ones catch fish just fine, so I am not searching high and low for collectors items that are eventually going to get bit off by pike anyways.

Have a bunch of the new ones and the pre rapalas. Colors are kinda on the rough side on the pre rapals..wondering if it was worth getting them redone. Haven't used them much hoping to soon.

Don't repaint the old ones unless you're just planning on fishing them. You can probably sell them for enough to buy 2-3 new warts apiece.

Any of you Wiggle Wart guys fish or have any luck with the Spro RK Crawler?   I bought a few but haven't used them yet.

I've fished the RC but it's not very much like a wart. It kind of has the body style of the wart, but it swims like a 6A Bomber with a tighter, more uniform wobble. They're still a good bait, but not the wart replacement they were touted as being.

I'll  be using them this year for sure. Just never got a chance to. I dont think I would be able to let them go to be honest. Bought like 8 or so for like 50 bucks a year or so ago.

Yes the Rock Crawler is a fantastic lure. It does not have that sporatic action that Wiggle Warts are famous for but SPRO produces a good bait. I tend to look at it like this - "That bass is down there thinking do I want a hamburger or a hot dog today"

slightly off topic but I have a question to the wiggle wart pros here. Does the mag wart retain that same sporadic hunting action that everyones after or is it just the standard size? It looks like an exact copy of the standard just bigger but I know theres supposed to be some sort of magic in that original mold. As someone who loves crankbaits I have really missed the bus fishing these baits and this year I want to change that. On a side note I saw someone mention the rock crawler and I will say that I love that bait and caught all my big crankbait fish on it last year.

The Mag wart does have a similar action but for some reason does not have the fish catching power of the original size. I believe it's because they're mainly emulating a craw and in most cases, a bass will not target the biggest craws because they're much harder to capture and consume. That being said, I've seen some very large fish caught on the Mag warts.
