Head423 Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I have been eyeballing and itching to try some better fluorocarbon for awhile. Been using stren for past year. Really want to try sunline sniper more than anything for some unknown reason. Anyone have any input as to its manageability and memory. How about Pline 100% as well? I will be using around 15 lb for skipping jigs around docks and laydowns and a few rocky points. Nothing to wicked to require braid Quote
Super User Angry John Posted February 20, 2016 Super User Posted February 20, 2016 I use both the lines you just mentioned. They are both good, and function about the same for me. There might be better out there but these two were the end of my search. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted February 20, 2016 Super User Posted February 20, 2016 There isn't a better line in the price range you can get Sunline FC Sniper for. 1 Quote
Head423 Posted February 20, 2016 Author Posted February 20, 2016 Thanks guys, Seems like my desire to try sniper should be a solid choice Quote
Super User webertime Posted February 21, 2016 Super User Posted February 21, 2016 16lb Sniper will make you a happy man. 2 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted February 21, 2016 Super User Posted February 21, 2016 Both are excellent lines and I use both. The sniper is slightly smaller diameter compared to the Pline 100%. You'll be very happy with either line over your Stren. 1 Quote
WdyCrankbait Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 yeah, I agree with what is said here. Sniper is great stuff, and I have never had trouble with Pline, both solid lines for a lot of applications. Quote
thebillsman Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I went with 14lb for my new jig and worm outfit. Quote
WI_Angler1989 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I only use fluorocarbon for leaders with braided line, but can vouch for Sunline's abrasion resistance. I've used it for 3 seasons on my spinning setups with any and all finesse and bottom contact lures. I fished a lot of tubes and craws last season in rocky rivers and the Super Sniper held up great. It frayed very rarely and it took a lot to make it. The knot strength is great too, pretty much the same as any mono I use. And that's with a trilene knot, palomar and uni to uni knot. I even had the braid snap while freeing a snag before the fluoro or the knot did. Quote
PitchinJigz Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 The diameter on Sunline is so small that I'd go to 18lb around docks. Quote

Super User kickerfish1 Posted February 21, 2016 Super User Posted February 21, 2016 For flourocarbon lines under $25 sniper would be a good choice as would be Invisix. Both are high quality with good line mangement. 1 Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted February 22, 2016 Super User Posted February 22, 2016 i've been using some 16lb sniper on my dedicated jig rod for some time now and absolutely love it, changed my opinion on using fluoro as a main line. Quote
cottny27 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 You all about got me convinced to try Sniper. I like AbrazX, but always willing to try to find something better. A little tackle shop by my house has Sniper for $21.99. Seems like that's about as cheap as I've seen it. Quote
WI_Angler1989 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Seaguar InvizX is reccomend a lot (on here too) as a main line. It's apparently very manageable and strong. I've just never had issues with Sniper and needed to change. It lasts for ages too when used in segments as leader material. The only bummer is I bought it when I wasn't sure what to do with it and it 12#. Now that I use it a ton Id prefer 8# or 10#. Quote
cottny27 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I have some InvizX in 15#. It handles pretty well. I strung up a new reel yesterday with 15# Seaguar Senshi that I had leftover. Figured I'd give the stuff another try and haven't used mono in a couple years. Stuff handles much better than fluoro. It will be my topwater setup I guess. Quote

junyer357 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 i use 16# sniper for my worm n jig rods and really like it. I just ordered more for this year Only line ive liked better is tatsu, but i dont like it as much as seaguar does. For cranks and spinnerbaits i use invisx and have for a few years now. One thing i really reccomend is ordering some kvd line n lure spray and use it. I spray mine as im spooling it, and again every nite before i go again. Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted February 22, 2016 Super User Posted February 22, 2016 If stretch matters to you (and fluorocarbon typically stretches more than mono or co-polymer, contrary to how lines are marketed) - Sniper stretched the least amount of the 9 fluorocarbons in my annual line stretch test. Listed below are least stretch to most stretch: 1) Sunline Sniper 2) Gamma Touch 3) Gamma Edge 4) Bass Pro XPS Fluorocarbon 5) Stren 100% Fluorocarbon 6) Seaguar Tatsu 7) P-Line 100% Fluorocarbon 8) Seaguar Invizx 9) Berkley 100% Fluorocarbon Sometimes you want a line with more stretch, sometimes less... this may help you decide ~ Quote
backcast88 Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I've used Sniper exclusively for 3 years now. I really like the performance of the line. It doesn't have a bunch of memory and has pretty good abrasion resistance. I use 14lb for jigs and worms, 12lb for crankbaits, and 8lb for dropshots/shakey heads. I've been playing around with 20lb Assassin. So far it's not bad. It has a little more memory than Sniper but is pretty equal in most other categories. Quote
