jlperkins Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Was looking at Sebert jigs going to place a order but not sure which one to get I am looking at the Grid Iron Brush Mata, and the Grid Iron Arky, What is the difference between these two jigs, I will be fishing lots of brush, and rocky bottoms, which would work best and why, Thanks Quote
primetime Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 An Arkie Style head is rarely a bad option, but when I have ordered from Siebert, I emailed the owner who is a very knowledgeable guy when it comes to jigs and colors etc...I just asked him to put together a few of his "Package deals in colors he thought were best for Florida" and he sent some colors that have been dynamite. I often use just a Texas rig with a punch skirt over them, and he has the best deals on Tungsten and I would pay for the Wire attachment on everything, it is only about .35 I think and the skirt never comes off...The Brush Jigs and Casting jigs he has are great, I would highly suggest picking up a bluegill colored swim jig in 1/4 oz as well. He makes a really nice looking jig head that is hard to beat for the price. There are so many jigs on the Market that I never know which one's are good etc. since I fish mainly Grass, but I have never purchased a better jig for the same price he sells them for online for the same price or anywhere...The Other Jigs I really like are the Megastrike Line up, but you will be happy with any of the Jigs Seibert Makes. Some have heavier guards, wide gap hooks etc...He can put you on the best track, I would tell him your goals and let him go to work....Just my 2 scents...Honest Seller 100%. 2 Quote
JustinU1X Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 They're both good all around jigs but if you plan to skip them get the arky. Also, the mata series has rubber which makes them look a little more natural underwater. They also have the deep throat hooks which are razor sharp. Just got some in the mail yesterday 1 Quote
Scarborough817 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 my favourite are the dredge brush jigs hard to beat those owner deep throat hooks 2 Quote

Anyway, the Arky's head is a little pointier and may travel better through grass, though may more easily get stuck in crevices between rocks. I would submit your question by email to the nice folks at Siebert Outdoors. 1 Quote

FYI, here's a set of 5 that I got in a random jig pack last summer: Clockwise from top left: 3/8oz Grid Iron Football, Green Craw 1/4oz Brush, Caldwell Special 1/2oz Swim, Sapphire Shad 1/2oz Dredge Brush, Falcon Craw 1/4oz Bullet, Pumpkin Orange 2 Quote
Super User senile1 Posted February 22, 2016 Super User Posted February 22, 2016 The Siebert brush heads are excellent for thick wood and the grid iron football heads are excellent for rocks. If you have a limit as to how much you can buy I would use these two heads for brush and rocks respectively. The arky heads would be great for grass and all around jigs. 3 Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted February 22, 2016 Super User Posted February 22, 2016 both great options.... the mata is a very full skirt with rubber and silicone.... 1 Quote

It is my first choice. With that said I will never knock the arky design it is a proven jig head that has been around for ever. The biggest difference besides the heads is that the Mata jig is a mix of silicone and rubber. Basically I take a Grid Iron jig and add about 20 strands of rubber to it. Like Senile said above. I would probably go Brush and Football. Use the Brush for pretty much all that you said and then drag a football head. 3 Quote
