Hey everyone,

I'm just getting back into the tournament scene this year. Recently moved to ohio and will be fishing the ABA ohio division. So I'm looking for some suggestions on my rod and reel pairings, I know everything I have isn't ideal, I really need some slower reels but it's what iv got and what I will be working with so here's what I have.

Baitcasters:

Quantum Smoke 7.0:1

Concept  A 8.1:1

Lews laser pro msb 7.1:1

Casting rods:

Fenwick elite tech 7' medium fast

GSX Elite 7'2" med heavy ??action

Lews Custom Lite 7' med heavy fast

Spinning reels:

Shimano Symetre 2500fl

Shimano solstice 2500

Spinning Rods:

G-Loomis Drop Shot 6'10" mag-med ex-fast

BPS tourney Special 6' med Fast

Also wondering what line you would pair with each set-up. Thanks in advanced for the suggestions!

put the *** with the GSX and 3o braid or 15# fluoro, the quantum with the fenwick and 12# mono, and the lews with the lews and fluoro or braid (personal preference) doesn't matter how you pair up the spinning setups but put 10 to 15# braid on the drop shot rod and 10# mono on the other one. Tight lines!

No one can answer that except you and the fish. What makes you think your current equipment is inadequate? "Tis  a poor craftman that blames his tools". Now go out there and contribute to the prize money, I mean, make me proud...

I don't think you need to designate reels with rods. Figure out how you will be fishing and put the appropriate reels on the rods.

Application wise there's not s lot of difference between the reels. You can mix and match to see is one feels better with a particular seat/grip that's about it. I'd run 15# braid on both spinners, 40# on two casters and 50 or 65 on one.

I don't think my equipment is inadequate nor am I blaming the equipment what so ever. I'm just trying to come up with the most efficient set-ups with what I have such as:

Symetre on the g-Loomis with 8lb floro for shakey heads and drop shots and the *** on the GSX Elite with 20lb floro or 30lb braid for flipping and pitching etc. Nothing wrong with what I got just reaching out for opinions and maybe I'll learn something or come up with a new combination that works great for me. Bored in the off season is what this really is.
