I'm looking to purchase a spinnerbait rod that I can also use for lite pitching. My two choices are a Mojo or a Lew's Custom Lite or Custom SS. I'm looking in the 7ft to 7 1/2 ft. range, MHMF action. I own a Legend Tour Slop-Frog so I have an idea of the quality of St. Croix rods. I however do not owned any Lew's rods but do own a good handful of their reels. If their rods are as good as their reels I should be happy. I've been contemplating this for a month or more but just can't make up my mind. I do have access to Diawa so if they offer something that might work better, I'm all ears. Thank you.

Get a Mew's!

Kidding aside, I'd stick with the Mojo, especially if it's from the new lineup.

I've owned quite a few St. Croix rods and two Lew's. The Lew's aren't bad but if you are looking at both brands, at equal price points, in my opinion the St. Croix is going to be a better value.

As far as other brands go at the ~$100 mark, I'd also consider a Veritas 2.0 M. I own many higher end rods but the Veritas M just feels... right. It's light, sensitive, and I've never had a durability issue. You're needing something versatile as well, and I don't believe you'll find a more adaptable rod.

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~

I have no experience with Lew's products but am familiar with St rods and will say I'm a fan.

You may be pleased to know that the two rods listed below are currently being offered on the St Croix website at a sale price of $89 with free shipping.  Probably one of the best deals currently out there.

St. Croix Rage Casting Rod RC76MHMF - St Croix Mojo Bass Casting MBC76MHMF

Your Welcome.

Incidentally, that Rage model was just delivered to my door about an hour ago - imagine that.

I have last years model of the mojo 7' MHF Spinnerbait rod and absolutely love it! I use it for the exact things you want to and couldn't be happier. I used it all week on the Alabama river flipping jigs to isolated wood and rocks and caught some big girls with no complaints. the mojo is a great rod for the price point. that being said I do not have any experience with lews rods.

Ordered the 76MHMF Rage. Might be a little long for casting spinners real accurately but it will allow me to have a more designated flipping/pitching rod. I've been using a 7'1' *** Black MHF and a 7'4" Legend HF.

ksfishingguy, I fish a 7'6" Veritas MHF for swing jigs and like it. I'll look into he Veritas a little more as well.

TyF, missed your reply. I'll be looking into the Mojos for a spinning rod. I'm new to all of this but have spent the last couple years immersing myself. Getting there but still have a long way to go. The wife claims it's an obsession, I don't put up much of an argument.

Thank you all.

The Mojo's are nice rods but they tend to be a tad stiff at the tip for the action of the rod. Never had a Lew's rod!

With the redesign I believe they are much better. They feel better anyway. Again, in store only, never had one on the water.
