I'm looking for any anglers who have & have fished this particular rod.

It's listed as the Swim Bait/A-Rig stick in the Mojo lineup.

Looking to use it mostly for the A-Rig.

What do you like & / or dislike about it.

Thanks in advance.

Have been looking myself found this and read quite a few threads the past few days.

https://www.google.com/search?q=st+croix+mbc79hf&oq=st&aqs=chrome.2.69i59l3j69i60j69i61j69i60.1992j0j4&client=tablet-android-verizon&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#q=st+croix+mojo+swimbait+site:www.bassresource.com&prmd=svin

On another forum dedicated to swimbait, quite a few people said it was very stiff.

Yea ~ sounds like it might be a little too stout for my A-Rigging needs.

I have a couple of Swimbait sticks - don't need another.

Perhaps something close in length, 7'7" ~ 7'-10" or so but just down a bit  -

Maybe a MHMF would do it.

I might call and see if they will do a 2 for 150 deal and get the 79hf and 711.  Can never have to many rods right? Since most of my collection is fairy wands. It might not be a bad idea to get some heavier rods. Especially since I want to give our spring striper run a serious go.

I thought the Mojo, 1st gen, was a little heavy and kind of like a telephone pole. I didn't keep it long, one trip out.

You're welcome. Just my opinion of course. I know there are some fans of that rod on here and the Mojo series in general. They are good rods just not my cup of tea. I did buy the Fury 795 recently and love it. That might be an option for your A-Rigs. It's a MH-F , rated 1-6 oz.

I don't throw the A-Rig and never have so I can't even guess what that rod would do for it. It seems pretty versatile though. Not too heavy and but has some backbone for sure. I couldn't be more pleased for what I paid!

Thanks - the A-Rig I throw is on the "lighter" side - even with the plastic it's probably just over 1 1/2 ounces - so I don't want a pool cue.

I currently have 2 sticks that qualify for hurling the heavier versions and seem like over kill for the lighter one - need something for it.

Think I actually may have found it.

I bought a 7-6 MH Veritas for the same reason. I'm not sure that's the pole you want but maybe the 7-9 H Veritas. I bought mine a while back for $69.99. I don't have much of an opinion to offer because I haven't had the right opportunity to throw it.

Here's a link for $56 but I think their shipping rates are high.

No first hand exp. with the rod your asking about, but I have owned several St Croix Heavy powered rods in the past...........Premiers, Mojo's, Avids...............I guess I was/am a slow learner. They were ALL broomsticks, and after a short time with them, I was glad to be rid of each one.

FWIW, I just picked up a Dobyn's Fury 795 for Arigs and smaller swimmers. Rod is light and feels like it will work perfect for what I intend to use it for.

Congrats ~ nice looking stick ~

Let me know your final verdict after you've done some damage with it.

I have the exact stick that you are talking about and find that it loads really well between 11/2 and 2 oz. I can sling an A-rig a good ways with it and it also doubles as my swimbait stick.

tight lines
