basscatcher8 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Just finished up my new jig rod. I'm working on building a rod for throwing some bass jigs that I make and this is the first prototype. Mhx 873 blank. I like how it feels. Can't wait to get out fishing with it so I can plan and build version 2 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 What did you use for guides? It's hard to tell but they look a little on the large side. I've had good results with that blank. Quote
basscatcher8 Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 I used one of the Fuji sets off get bit and I agree the first one is a little to big. I figured since I would be mostly pitching to cover with it i could get by with it for now. The next one will definitely be different guides. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted February 18, 2016 Super User Posted February 18, 2016 looks great to me, really like the shape of that handle! Quote
black94gt50 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Did u paint the blank or can you now get colored mud blanks now. I know they offer the white. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 The standard MHX are available in several colors for the last couple months. I have used any colored ones but the white finish is good. Quote
basscatcher8 Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 correct this is one of the red blanks that MHx offers now it's pretty cool. Color little dark but I think a bright red rod would look a little crazy lol 5 hours ago, buzzed bait said: looks great to me, really like the shape of that handle! Thank you. I started turning them to fit my hand better. I built a spinnerbait rod and did the same thing I just wasn't proud enough of the final product to post it lol 1 Quote
