RFIGUY Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 cadman can you send me instructions for hand tying jigs Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted September 3, 2010 Super User Posted September 3, 2010 You guys might want to have a look at www.fishingskirts.com. They have a large variety of skirts and a very inexpensive and easy to use skirt and collar tool. Quote
pondhopper Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Hit U Tube and watch fly tying vids. This has been the best source I can find. You won't find many vids specifically demonstrating jig tying - though there are a few - but I think you will find lots of info concerning materials and techniques that will give you lots of ideas. After all, even a #22 dry fly is a jig. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted September 10, 2010 Super User Posted September 10, 2010 I use the fly tying meathod for my jigs as well, the skirts will stay in place and don't twist on you. Quote
BigMatt Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I like to wire tie my jigs now. I will cut the standard bands in half and put the skirt on the jig, then take a piece of 26 gauge craft wire, which you can get at Michael's for like 3 or 4 bucks for a 30 yard roll. Anyway, wrap the wire around three or four times, then twist it to tighten it down and trim off any excess. One of the best things I have ever done in jig making. Give it a shot, its worth it. Quote
FIAB Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 If you live close to a BPS, you may want to check with their fly fishing department......The one in Memphis gives free fly tying classes the first Monday of every month. I don't know if this is the case at all BPS but may be worth checking out. Quote
intheweeds Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 I wanted to bring this topic back because i would like to start tying my own jigs also. I am a total beginner at it. I do not want to make my own heads just yet. I would just like some direction on the tools I need and where to get the supplies so I can start tying my own jigs. cadman I read that you may have a beginners list that may help. If you don't mind sharing I would love to get my hands on that. If anyone else has any input I would be grateful. Thanks everyone. Quote
