MuskyTooth35 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Greetings anglers! Just purchased a 7'1 ML St. Croix Legend Tournament Fast Action spinning rod. Is this a good rod for throwing tubes for smallies? And what other baits could I throw with this rod? Any replies help me out! Im eager to learn lol 1 Quote

Yes that will work GREAT for tubes. It's the "plastics" rod, after all, so anything you want really: worms, tubes, craw, shakey head, grubs. Plus it's a MF so it'll work great for topwater too. I use my M action rods for spinnerbaits and small crankbaits as well as plastics types. You got yourself an awesome all around rod, my friend. Ps....I've been thinking of getting that one....LUCKY! 1 Quote

corn-on-the-rob Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I like to have a medium power rod, especially around larger smallies, but that rod will do great! Quote
Super User Spankey Posted March 7, 2016 Super User Posted March 7, 2016 I don't need any more rods but couldn't resist the new series Mojo 6'10" ML X-Fast. A lot better feel then previous series but the older series is a great rod also. The show had some discounted prices so went for it. I have other St. Croix that are similar all great soft plastic rods. Quote
Fishinthefish Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 It's basically a soft plastics and really lightly weighted soft plastics rod. I wouldn't put anythingover 3/8ths of an ounce sinker wise on that rod. Phenomenal rod though, I used to have one. Quote
Turkey sandwich Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 That's also a solid rod for throwing light poppers like smaller Pop-R, X-Rap Pops, etc.. Quote
tbone1993 Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 That would be my choice for a drop shot rod. That being said it will hold up for tubes. I throw my tubes on a 66medium fast baitcaster and sometimes heavier if I can get away with it. Quote
strikefc34 Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Swimming a grub or dropshot, too light in my opinion for tubes unless your swimming a finesse tube with a very light head. Quote
