ns0287 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Hey all, this is my informal fishing report based off of my experiences in the residential lakes in West Pines I'm Broward County. I've noticed lately quite a few people asking about fishing in Broward County so I figured I would share my experiences of the past two weeks fishing. the lakes I've been fishing have been higher than normal and really clear waters at about 66 degrees Fahrenheit my fish finder picks up a lot of fish at 10 to 17 feet. Some suspended and some are on ledges. So far top water and so slow fished Texas rigged worms on ledges are working. The colors I use are the usual pumpkin seed, June Bug, watermelon. I've noticed the bigger bass are deep and haven't figured figured out their preferences yet but this is what I have so far. I hope this helps anyone struggling with the bite right now. Also I know there are a lot more experienced anglers out there and if anyone wants to add to this I'd be more than happy to hear how anyone else is doing. 3 Quote
Super User geo g Posted February 18, 2016 Super User Posted February 18, 2016 Thanks for the report. Most bass that I have caught recently in the man made lakes were deep, or in thick cover. You had to fish slow to consistently be on any bite. I have caught a few in thick cover, especially on those bright sunny days. The cover is like sunglasses, and also holds the heat while the north wind blows, like a blanket. 3 Quote
Wurming67 Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I think this is a great idea for a thread to get going for west broward local canal fishing report. 1 Quote

Actually there was one for the South FL region for a while, unfortunately members come and go and it died down. You only have a handful of consistent members that will submit reports now a days. 1 Quote

Super User BassinLou Posted February 21, 2016 Super User Posted February 21, 2016 Here is the thread I was referencing. LOL... it was only 4 pages away. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/133005-florida-guys-check-in-here/ The thread was actually started in 2014, and it provided regional reports from all over the state. If you go back even more pages you will find other similar threads. But I will let all the new comers do that leg work. Moral of the story is there have been several dade and broward county threads started in the past. Good reads. A lot of great information was shared. 1 Quote
Albert Clay Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Thanks for posting, I hope to go out this week near my Pines house in my kayak. Usually catch a few, but the big ones, 4+ are elusive. May try deep like you said. I put a depth finder on the yak and some of those lakes are 25-30 ft deep in spots. Usually catch them on the ledges or near the pads. I'll post later this week. Quote
ns0287 Posted February 27, 2016 Author Posted February 27, 2016 Yea some of these lakes gets deep. I haven't been out since my last post :( I'm gonna try and get out this week coming up. Need my therapy! Quote
Zsolt Rebek-Nagy Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I am living on margate, the lake behind my back yard is super deep. the deepest point is 170 feet. the average is about 15-35, about 15 to 40 yards from the shore line. Some vegetation around the lake... I mostly fishing on the north side, since that is the most covered against the wind. It is extremely difficult to locate a the big ones. Never caught bigger the 6. I am sure there is a lot bigger than 6. I got lots of luck with zoom , neon green tip, water melon worm, and also the black and dark purple is very good also this time of the year. Quote
ns0287 Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 170 feet deep!? That is super deep for down here! I'm sure it's got some big bass, I'm sure they're smart though. Good luck Quote
