Fishwhittler Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Just some variations on my B51-S crankbait. The chartreuse bluegill suspends almost perfectly, although after about five seconds it starts to sink very slowly. Let me know what you think. Ben Quote
Steven Ladner Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 I like the body styles. You did great on the baby bass pattern, very real. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted October 6, 2010 Super User Posted October 6, 2010 Very nice! They all look great. I really like that bluegill one. Quote
NateFollmer Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Looks great as always! What's up with the dual line ties on the one? Quote
Fishwhittler Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 Looks great as always! What's up with the dual line ties on the one? Two different actions. When you use the top line tie, the bait has a tighter action and will dive down to 6". The lower line tie gives a much wider action, and the bait doesn't dive at all. Quote
NateFollmer Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 geez, that small amount of placement can make that much difference in action... That's nuts! Cool though, but nuts... I bet it's a pain to tune and figure out where these things go Quote
Fishwhittler Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 It's not difficult; if you put the hardware in straight there isn't much to adjust. I only had to make tiny adjustments to get both of the line tie's running straight. Now on my earlier baits, I had a ton of problems. That was due in a large part to me not putting the hardware in straight. Now that I've been building baits for a few years I very rarely have a bait that won't run straight. Using PVC has made it easier, because I don't have to contend with the woodgrain while I'm drilling holes. Quote

I only had to make tiny adjustments to get both of the line tie's running straight. Ah, I meant knowing where the line tie actually goes to get it to dive or not. I can't believe that tiny amount of offset can give you 6 foot of depth I guess I didn't mean tune Quote
Fishwhittler Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 Whoa, I didn't say six feet! That bait only goes down six inches at the deepest when you use the top line tie. There's just no way to get a bait that size with that bill angle to run six feet deep, no matter where you put the line tie. Quote
NateFollmer Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Oops, sorry I see its a " not a ' now HA. Ignore me, I'm having an off day Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted October 6, 2010 Super User Posted October 6, 2010 Suffering from vapor lock, Nate? Quote
NateFollmer Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 No, I'm suffering from 'working with idiots syndrome' and it's turning my brain to mush (not you guys, my day job people I work with). HA They make a lot of ID-10T errors... Quote
