I am debating on purchasing one of the two but am conflicted. Does anybody have any experience with either one? I am looking for a good Co-angler setup.

Since you are coangling I would look into the bags instead of a backpack, now if you are bank beating the backpack would be the go-to

I have the bag that was the model before the one on the bottom and love it. One thing that I have found as a must for boat bags is a hard sided bottom to keep the moisture out of the bag if the carpet is wet from either the early am dew or from rain.

Hey appreciate the input guys! I ended up ordering the the Plano Guide Series 3710 bag from TW. I will probably give an update on my first impressions once I receive it on Monday. Thanks again!

Looking forward to hearing your opinions. I've looked at that bag as well but get scared off by the price. I always justify making do with the normal backpack I use now.

I thought about it long and hard but finally made the decision to transition from my Plano 7771 to a soft side. It makes more sense to me sense I am going to be fishing as a co-angler. I will make it a point to give my initial impressions once it arrives.

Having done the do-angler thing for a number of years I'd recommend 2 medium sized bags half full compared to 1 bag totally stuffed.   Boxes and hard stuff go in one bag and soft stuff that can be kicked around go in the other.   Soft bag going in the bottom of the boat where you don't care if it gets kicked around or not.   Other bag gets strapped to the pole of the rear deck seat.   Strap it so that you can slide it around out of your way, no matter which direction you're casting.   Total weight of the gear you're carrying is about the same, I found the 2 bag system more accessible when I didn't have to dig through the bag as much.

Another bag purchase you should consider is a rod bag.   That makes transportation of rods from your vehicle to the boat MUCH simpler.

I bought the second one without the hard bottom last year and it has worked out well for me. I like the box on top, you can put all the stuff you think you're going to use that day and don't have to dig as much. It also holds a lot more than it comes with.

One thing I would recommend is undoing the bungee holding the top box on when you're not using it, knowing the tendency of those type of bungees to stretch.

I received my new tackle bag from TW and holy cow this thing is nice and roomy! I love the reinforced zipper handles, special pockets and compartments for all of my gear. I now have more space than I have stuff and that is a perk in itself because I now have an excuse to buy more tackle. :) The one and only thing that I have a complaint about at this moment are the 3700 boxes that come with the bag. The design of them IMO are useless. They are the Plano boxes that have both the vertical and horizontal compartments and I cannot stand them. I tried to make them work but my OCD took over and I went out the same night and bought boxes that I wanted from my local Dicks.
