I'm looking to get a new spinning reel for my rod I'm using mostly for senko fishing this year. I currently have a shim and Sahara I'm looking to replace with a new reel and put on the rod my wife uses for bait fishing when she comes with me. It has a crack in the graphite or plastic w/e it is underneath where the line roller on the bail is. I know I could probably fill it with silicone or something but would rather just get a new reel. I was looking at the president but read a bunch of reviews where after being in a rain storm it started being noisy and not working very well. I don't want to have to lubricate a reel every time it gets wet. I've been looking at some Lews reels since I've bought a couple of their baitcasters in the past couple years and absolutely loved them. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a reel to look at. Thanks guys.

I'm looking for a spinning reel. I did not really see anything in that list of threads. Any suggestions on models to look at?

Find one that's worth $100+ on sale. Always deals on Ebay.

This. Shimano Symetre and the Daiwa Fuego can be had near that price on eBay.

This. Definitely hit up eBay and look for sellers with
very high ratings - 99.7 and up (IMHO). I've bought
several reels online and never been disappointed.

Pflueger is running a $20 rebate on reels that cost $99 or more. Get the supreme and with the rebate it will be $80. It has a magnesium body. I'm not sure what the advantage of magnesium is, but it's cool to say

For probably 20 years now I was a big fan of Shimanos. Have quiet a few of them, mostly Symetres and Saharas. Great reels. But the "friction ring" under the spool rotator has failed on most of them. Easy enough to replace, but a PITA! And since Shimano went up $20.00 in price on both of these models, I'm not going to buy another one - period.

Two seasons ago I got my first Pflueger President. Last year I got my second. This year, I've ordered my third. In my opinion, this reel is the best made, low budget reel you can get on the market today. Very cost effective; only time will tell if they are just as dependable as the Shimanos I've had. From what I've seen thus far, they are all of that and more. Very smooth, quality reel. Great drag too. JMO! :)

I have two Pflueger Presidents and one Pflueger Supreme. I'm going to buy another supreme with the rebate offer (tried to find one at BPS this weekend to do a reel trade-in credit, and they were out! grrr....). I love both of these reels at their price.

I posted this on another thread recently, but if you compare the size 30 President, President LE and Supreme  according to the specs on Pflueger's site, you do get a clear reduction in weight and an increase in line recovery if you go above the president to either of the other two:

President 30: 8.3oz, 25.2 inches per turn

President LE 30: 7.7oz, 31 inches per turn

Supreme 30: 7.5 oz, 31.8 inches per turn

I think the president's weight is already pretty decent, but if you think weight and line recovery are really important, it might be worth spending a little more on one of the other two. And given the current rebate on the Supreme, that makes it the same price as the LE ($80) until the end of may, which is $20 more than the regular president ($60).

I was already looking at both the president and the LE models. I'd have to get the 35 model otherwise when I spooled it with 10 lb test there would only be 80 yards of line on the reel. I used a conversion program to calculate the capacity. It's kind of weird when you go from 6 to 8 lb test on the 35 model there's a difference of 45 yards but when you go to the 30 model it lists only a 15 yard difference.

I'm in the same boat as you, check this out...Pflueger President LE on Jet.com, it's $78 but if you use the "15now" code at checkout you save an additional 15% which brings it down to $66 plus it's free shipping.

I did see that when I was looking online earlier minus the 15 percent discount but they don't have the size 35 reel. Thank you though.

I agree with the above posts. If you can get a pflueger supreme go for it, second choice would be a pflueger president. I have 2 supremes and wouldnt hesitate to get a 3rd if i needed it. My dad and brother in law have presidents i jave used and they are really great too.

Presidents are great reels for the money. I wouldn't make a decision based on a couple posts when the overwhelming opinion on them is positive.

I may end up trying the president. I just wish the IPT was higher. My Sahara is 35 and the president is 27. It's cheaper than the alternatives and I already got a new pole ( duckett ghost) and reel (Lews tournament pro ss) this year so I don't want to push it too much with the wifey because I already have too much stuff in her mind. I really do want to play with the new Lews spinning reels though.

I think you'll be impressed with the standard President. For their price they seem every bit as well-built as more expensive reels. When I hold them next to other reels they look and feel as nice as the more expensive reels, too. Better yet mine fish really well and I just got a tiny 20 size for an ultralight setup.

I'm sure there will an occasional lemon just like any other mass produced item.

I just ordered the Lews Mach I speed spin T200 reel from tackle warehouse. I'll give that one a shot. Same price as president but 2 ounces lighter and more in line with line capacity that I'm looking for. It also has 5 more IPT I was looking for closer to my Sahara.

I own Shimano, Diawa, Abu, (27-14) Fishing, Lews, and BPS baitcasting reels.  I own ONLY Pflueger spinning reels.  That sums it up for me.
