I'm stoked my first ever NRX should arrive later this week. Thanks to EllisJuan for pointing out the sale over at MFT. After much thought I ended up getting the 842s sjr for a versatile 7' rod. Looking forward to joining the club however even at the sale price it may be my last.

I bet you are going to love it.  I am really still fighting the urge to pick one up also.

Get you one EllisJuan. It's all your fault I'm in this mess ;)

Ha...In the last two weeks I have bought two Loomis GLX, a Loomis IMX, a Loomis E6X, a St. Croix Avid, and a St. Croix Premier.  Not to mention a Metanium and Chronarch ci4+...My debit card is literally on fire.

...but this Spawning season should be a blast.

Sounds like it. You'd better score a personal best this year. My goal is a 6 pound smallmouth :)

If...and that is a big IF I was to get a NRX, I would want the most versatile baitcasting rod.  I am thinking it would be the Mag Bass 843c.  I don't really ever throw anything less than 1/4oz on a casting rod.

i bet it won't

i started with just one and thought the same thing. next thing i knew, i was unhappy with my other rods that i used to love. i've been slowly selling off my other rods and buying more NRXs. i'm up to four NRXs so far.

the 842 NRX is an awesome rod. its ridiculous with an aldebaran.

that being said it is far from being a very versatile rod as far as having a good weight range. A lot lighter in power than the discontinued GLX MBR 842c.

what do you plan on throwing with it? you might want to look into the 843 if its not too late. if you have done your homework and know the 842 is right for your intended applications, please disregard!

edit: you said 842s. i have not fished it but sounds like a good spinning rod choice. i have the 852s and its a favorite.

Tubes, shakey heads, t-worms, maybe drop shot. Bottom contact baits

My 844's came in.  You can tell these were drop shipped...it doesn't look like a human hand had ever touched them.  Those handlers must wear latex gloves.  I now have one rod with a palm print :(

Well, my 803C GLX came in today...with a mangled first guide. :(

What a perfect excuse to change my order to the NRX version :)

Scott at monstertackle aka OPS has handled it great so far.  I told him I would pay the difference to the NRX (~$65) and then jokingly told him to get them to upgrade me for my inconvenience.  He said he would talk to his contact and see what he can do...lol

Gore Warning!

Sounds like you have a NRX coming. I still haven't got mine yet. They were out at OPS so it will be coming from the factory.

Other than a mangled first guide how does the GLX feel?

I am a big fan of the GLX rods and I don't think this one would have been any exception.  I am really excited to see how the NRX compares.

I have the same rod. It, too, was my first NRX and I love it. Its very light and sensitive. Enjoy.

Thanks. It's on backorder so I have to wait a bit longer. But looking forward to it showing up in the next week or so.
