Hello everyone,

Just in case anyone was still interested, I just picked up my rod! Lucky for me, I won an ice fishing tournament this weekend and received enough dough to purchase a... St. Croix Mojo Bass! Well out of my price range of what I thought I was going to be able to get. Just goes to show anything can happen! I am very excited to try it out this spring on some pigs (hopefully ;)). I also wanted to say thank you to all the contributed, I really do appreciate it! It creates faith that there are regular old real people out there that are willing to help others. Being in highschool you don't see very much kindness... Anyways, thank you to all and I hope this will help someone else in the future as well.

Keep your lines tight and rods flexin'

and also a good day :D

There is a young man on this site that is now retired.  Fishes about 365 1/4 days a year.   Uses several Pflueger and Shimano spinning reels.  Has mentioned before that each of his Shimano reels have been in for repairs.  None of his Pflueger reels have.  I realize that there are a lot of Shimano fans on this site.  I'm one myself.  Just sayin'.  However, it is my firm belief you should always buy what interests you the most.

Congratulations on the new rod.  Always nice to be able to get more than you were expecting.

Does your Bass Pro have a discount rod rack? They are remodeling all their rods and Ive seen a  lot of their rods discounted. I have an old Bionic blade I would suggest. Love those rods for the price

I have the vortex 6'6 med for my walleye jigging rod. I really like it for that purpose. It use to be my wacky rig rod but i wanted something a little heavier action to get the fish out of the thick stuff faster.

I know just what you're saying. I sometimes forget how fortunate my life is and i'm thankful very for the one I have.

Welcome to the forum Justen.

As far as an affordable Senko set up, I'm  a Pflueger President fan, and any 6'6" - 7' Medium/Fast or Med-Hvy/Fast spinning rod in your budget that feels good in your hands should do the trick.
