Sup Chris!

It's been over a year so I doubt it, that's all I could come up with on my google search. I got a voltage tester around here somewhere may try and throw a charger in the batteries. Batteries should still be good to.

figure I'll try one of the tracker dealers in the AM

You haven't recently disconnected any of the batteries have you?

nope it was working fine, there are some fuses on the lines from the charger to the batteries, i'll check in the AM, after that im stumped.

Here is all i found so far.

I havnt unplugged anything since the last time it worked so i know its wired correctly.

what does it mean when the blue ring light is on but no other lights will come on and will not charge batteries?

Battery(s) are not charging, Blue AC Power Light Ring, RED Charging and Battery Type LEDs are On Confirm all charger cables are installed with the correct polarity connections at each battery, and that all connections are clean and tight. Confirm that there are no Bank Trouble Status LED indicators on. If they are check the battery and battery connections at the battery indicated on the unit. Note: Incorrect wiring will result in reverse polarity or high reverse voltage, in the event this happens, the XPSiT Charger has been designed to not fail as a result, however it will cause the charger to "internally disconnect" and provide "no output" until the (reverse polarity) caused by putting the "Red" + lead on a - negative battery terminal)and/or the (high reverse DC voltage caused by taking one bank cable and spreading it across two batteries) is corrected, using the wiring diagrams as shown on pages 11-18. With the charger on, read DC voltage at each battery. If any of the readings are less than 13 Volts DC proceed with the following:

A. Disconnect AC power at the 120VAC outlet.

B. Go to pages 11-18 of this manual and confirm your XPSiT model charger is connected correctly as illustrated in the installation drawings.

C. Upon Completing B above; Plug your charger into AC Power and observe the LED center. Charger should be in the charging Mode (Charge Status Indicator should be Red). If after completing a full charge cycle, 10-12 hours or more for deeply discharged or completely dead batteries, the Charge Status Indicator should be Green and the Go Fish! indicator should be on as well as the Blue AC Power Light Ring.

Are your batteries too cold, most chargers won't charge a battery if it's too cold. I have the same charger as you but I haven't had any issues with it at all. I thought I read in the manual when I installed mine that it won't charge if it's too hot or too cold. Good luck I hope you get it figured out...

just looked at the batteries and my buddy thinks the water looked a little low, going to get some distilled water to see if thats the problem.

Posted

water filled up, 2 out of 3 batteries were at 12 volts, one was at 5 volts. I put a charger on the 5 volts and it brought it up to 12 currently. XPS charger still wont kick on at the moment, still blue light. Left XPS charger plugged in thinking maybe it will take a few to cycle? no idea but out of ideas at the moment.

Called BPS they think its a bad battery said rarely its the charger it could be but its rare.

ok the one battery that was low didnt hold a charge over night, its almost dead. So looks like a new battery is in my future.

Hope that resolves the issue of your charger not performing as expected.

I will give you my thoughts on your charger.  Unless they have recently changed, the XPS chargers are made by Pro Mariner.  Pro Mariner used to be a great charger, but like it seems everybody else is doing, they changed to Chinese built chargers.  For years, I ran the Pro Mariner Pro Tourney three bank 30 amp chargers.  Then they started failing.  The first one that failed was under warranty so they were great about sending me another the next day.  That one failed a couple months after the warranty ran out, I sent it in and they said the boards were out dated and couldn't be repair.  I have a degree in electronics and very good with it so I asked if they could just send it back and a copy of the schematic.  They said they couldn't send me the schematic but offered me a credit toward a replacement, so I went with that.  The replacement failed right after the warranty ran out, they said the boards were outdated and couldn't be repaired, "again".  But they could offer me credit toward a new one.  That's when I told them what they could do with their outdated, non repairable charger.  You know, that was about five years ago, and I never have called them back and told them they could pull it out.

So, with that, I will just say I hope you have better luck with the XPS.

I have been running an BPS charger since 2010.  I have never had any problems with it.  But I used to run a different brand on my old boat.  Try this before you go any further.  Disconnect the wires from each terminal , clean the terminals just like any battery, them clean each wire ring terminal. (Use a wire brush and baking soda on the battery terminals as needed, use some steel wool or light sand paper on the ring terminals) rehook the wires from the first terminal then proceed to the next till all the terminals on all of the batteries are clean.  Now retry the charger.  Sometimes a good physical connection does not mean a good electrical connection.  Now if the charger fails then more than likely it is the charger.

Update

one of the reason I was also pulling my hair out to get this fixed is, I was selling the boat. Guy ended up coming that night and buying from me. He was actually a re-seller and had an "in" with BPS, said he wasn't worried about it and could get it taken care of. So ended up being a win/win

ill probably stay boat less for a while, I fish a lot of Co Aangler stuff and my tourney/fishing buddy has a Z8 so it's not hurting me to not have one. But I will miss it :(

My condolences to you my friend.

Congrats on the guy taking it off your hands.
