If you signed up this early you shouldn’t have a problem without a link but would still be better. Have  Facebook? There is a link finder page or you can call Alan directly and he will

help find one

I'm new to the site and live in Brighton. I grew up on School Lake and hadn't fished much anywhere else until this summer when we bought our first boat! Have mainly fished West/East Crooked as its about 5 minutes from my house and School Lake but also got out onto Chemung, Whitmore Lake, Huron River for some smallies and a trip up to Saint Mary's Lake where one of my twin daughters landed a 4.1lb largemouth :)

Hey all! I haven't been around in a minute. Figured I'd swing in and see what's going on. This warm spell had me really itching to fish. It's rather unfortunate knowing we still have some winter left..

Anyways, what are you all doing with the weather? Prepping? Equipment upgrades?

Me? My YouTube history is that of an addict. ?

Nah. Just had some close deaths in the family last summer so left all my tournaments and parked the Skeeter. Focused on some family stuff.

I don’t think I’m gonna make it til spring. Might have to make a road trip to catch some fish

I leave for TN tomorrow! Not a fishing trip, but you'd be d**n silly not to think I wasn't bringing at least one rod!

I had to tell myself this out loud today. Twice.

I’ve been going over Google earth a lot.

The summer is the busy season at work, so I might only have an hour, maybe two , here and there to get a quick fix during the week. So I’ve been looking for small ponds to make a run at.

I have ave a few spots on the bank of the Detroit River I can walk to, but unfortunately they often require me to saturate the area thoroughly before finding the fish.

So when do you guys start looking for open water?

Checked the 15 day forecast and we’re supposed to see low 40’s all the way up to 50 in a few weeks. Couple of random days in the 30’s, but they’re scattered.

Hoping the ponds will start de icing around then. Of course, this is Michigan, they could have a half a foot of ice the day I head out.

I drive the state for my job so I'm always keeping an eye out, but usually not until April. I hit the canal from Lake MI to Muskegon Lake around early april last year with a blade bait. The canal between Lake Mitchell and Lake Cadillac is thawed, and I thought about throwing a line just to take the edge off ?

I too drive all day usually 100-150 miles a day in my area so I'm always crossing paths with lakes. I usually don't pay a whole lot of attention to them until mid April.

I saw some of the same forecast you did. I don't foresee it doing a whole lot except making a big mess. I took my son ice fishing yesterday at my parents house and there was 10" of solid clear ice so that's not going away any time soon unfortunately.

We're one day closer to spring!

If it's a super warm March - and I mean well about freezing all day and especially over night - than I'll start looking around here (Otsego County) last week in March or so.

Most years - 1st week of April we'll routinely see water on the ice and maybe small open spots in the warmer/sheltered areas of some lakes.

By the 2nd week,  I'm real close or even floating around somewhere.

I'm getting really sick of staring at tip ups... and the new Destroyer that's leaning up against my wall. We should be on open water soon though guys!

I found open water last week! Couple of small ponds around here. Didn’t catch nothin, but it eased the itch.

There's still a lot of ice up by me but I've found some open water. Been thinking I might go out just to ease that itch as well!
