Bought a new Jig rod a reel this spring and caught that beauty on a 3/8oz jig along with a pile of other nice pre spawn fish. This year is my first time ever fishing jigs. It's a new technique i'll use all the time now.

Whats been working for everyone so far this season? Underspins with keitechs have been doing well for me so far.

I've been having good luck with the whopper plopper 90 in bone and loon patterns. I have a 110 on the way though and I'm looking forward to getting out and throwing it. My next best has been a Keitech on a weighted swimbait hook.

Ottawa County. Near the Grand River, Tri-City area. Lot of bass, smallmouth, a few stripers. Still haven't landed that "big one" yet, but I'm workin' on it :)

Anyone going to the b.a.s.s. event this month @ lk. st. clair? I have never attended one but i.m going this year. After seeing the crowds in Waddington n.y., I think we can beat those d**n Yankees...

I am around the same exact area.  Do you know of any good shore fishing spots for bass/catfish?  My brother and I have been going out fishing quite a bit recently and are looking for a solid area to cast from.  We have been told the Indian Channel is a good one for cats but I'm not sure how much truth there is to that.

Don't know if this will help anyone but, during my vacation at Houghton lake I  notice the craws had a blueish color on their hardened old shell and the new parts of their shell was orange. Didn't find this out til my last day of the trip.

I read last night that MLF is going to be in Alpena this coming week starting Monday. They are doing a meet and greet Tuesday evening. Check out another site.com for the article that gives the greet and meet place if you're interested in attending.

This will be the third time MLF has returned to Alpena something they've never done before anyplace else. Must be there are a couple fish up there. ?

The article said it'll air in February. Figured I'd let you guys know if any ones interested.

Can't find where they'll be & when, and that's probably by design, but there's a decent chance Grand, Long & or Hubbard lakes will see some MLF action at some point.  Thunder Bay on Lake Huron could be on the schedule again as well, depending on the weather.

And remember what I said about the 'early fall bite' in another thread ?  This will make that painfully obvious.

I'm a fan of MLF but it wouldn't hurt my feelings any if they stayed off the MI inland lakes . . .

Looks like rain for the MLF boys today in Alpena. It might be just me but just watching my local news/weather it seems like it rains at least once a week up there. It would be nice, my grass is still fried!

I was fishing on Friday afternoon killing some time in GR and saw KVDs truck at the local lake. Sure enough him and his two boys were out fishing. Good to know that when he gets some down time to fish that he would choose the lake I fish the most on!

on a side note I've had a pretty good few weeks of fishing. Sticking mostly to deep weeds and mats or either around heavy cover.

I'm just north of GR. What lake was it he was on? A friend of his was on the radio a month or 2 ago and said that his boys are on the GVSU fishing team. So maybe in a few years we'll see 4 VanDam's on the Elite tour.

Been practicing how to fish with Senkos. Been getting some mega strikes, but all have come off or spit the bait. I had two fish eat my senkos and I did have one really awesome smallmouth (4lb plus) which I almost got my hand on before he got off. I had to spend a few minutes composing myself after that one.

And then tonight, I caught this monster (yes, on a Senko).....

Senkos rock in Michigan. Try frogs in the pads.

Has anybody been having any luck off of the pier in Grand Haven lately?  If so, what should I be using?  I'm looking to go there tonight to try my luck at anything that will bite!
