kingmotorboat Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 So I broke my second rod this past weekend. Both of them same rod from same company broke in same exact distance from tip down. (From a company frowned down upon here on br) So I need to get a new one for light t rigs, was looking at the 7'1 mf rage casting model on the st croix site, thoughts on this rod? Quote
Cgrinder Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Pac bay components are meh. Handle is love it or hate it. Blank material is solid. Fair buy at $89. 1 Quote
kingmotorboat Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 Problem is I'm blind buying and its down to this or the mojo, Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted February 15, 2016 Super User Posted February 15, 2016 89$ for the 7'1 rage is about as good as it gets in that price range. Components aren't the best but you won't beat it's blank for 89$. Assuming you're talking about trece rods in the series named after a horror movie and want to stay in that price range, I'd go Rage. If you want to step it up, I got the new DX742c HP and it's pretty amazing. Quote
Cgrinder Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Personally I would buy the new Mojo but I prefer the fuji seat and cork. However the Rage is less expensive and you may like it. Quote
kingmotorboat Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 Yea I'm trying to stay around this price range and the rage does seem hard to beat at 89 dollars. Old mojo also 89 but most say it's a dead stick Quote
MDBowHunter Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 The new Mojos are made with the sc111 blank which is the he same as the avids. This change was made the end of last year, they're a solid rod. I actually own a couple of them along with a couple avids . Quote

Super User S Hovanec Posted February 15, 2016 Super User Posted February 15, 2016 If you can look past the Pac Bay hardware, the blank is worth the price of admission. Quote

Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 If you're breaking rods with some regularity I'd suggest you re-examine your hooksetting, fish landing practices etc. it's really rare for a blank defect to not be obvious the first couple times it's loaded. Quote

Just 2 over the past year and a half both the same model, from what I've read this is a pretty reoccurring theme with these. Quote

One was 3/8 to 1oz 7'1 mh fast which always had a 1/4 oz t rig tied on, the other was a 6'10 m fast that had a rating 1/4 to 5/8 that I used for finesse 40 ton Japanese toray blank Quote

Not a fan of Minima guides (metal inserts) and the Minima reel seat is the most uncomfortable thing I've ever had in my hand. 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I don't like split seats in general. The minima 4 double swaged guides are super light and have held up well on the few rods I've used them. Quote
