I just called and ordered the 6'8" MXF and the 7'1" MHXF. You have to call the retail store, and the rods are $50 a piece with $10 shipping up to 5 rods. My total was $110!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is an insane deal omg, do they have anything like this on their Legend Elite rods if you call the retail store ;)

I got the Avid Neo USA made rod in MHF for 89 bucks and a free hat and I was entered into the St Croix Rod drawings where they will be giving away like a 150 rods or something. Coming out of the closet on this....................I kinda like the handle :o

I like the handle as well.  I especially like it for kayak use.  The shorter-than-usual butt makes casting from seated position with a pfd a breeze.

Ordered my rods by phone yesterday and they already shipped. The rep on the phone was very nice and helpful. My Legend Tournament is my only experience with st croix so I'm excited to try these out.

Ok...I've been off the grid for a while. If the Rage rods are so wonderful why are they discontinued?

Probably has something to do with the new Mojos being built on a scIII blank and being close to the price range of the Rage. Also the handle probably turned people off. $50 for a rod built on that blank is an absolute steal though. You can't even buy the blank for that cheap.

Judging by the recent resurgence in popularity, if the Rage Line had been offered at the going rate all along, St Croix may not have made a ton of dough but then again they probably wouldn't have much in the way of inventory either . . .

After recently receiving the RC76MHMF ~ Just ordered a second.  When will it all end . ?. ?. ?. ?. .? .

:D

Love the handle on 7'1" mhxf while bank fishing or seated kayak fishing, but I don't really care for the XF action... too bad the MHF wasn't available when I purchased it months ago @ $90. For $110 I'm tempted to buy the 71MHF and 72MM for crank baits...

I have three rage rods the i picked up maybe 3 years ago or so when they had a buy 2 get one free deal going.  I have zero complaints....i kind of wish i "needed" another because i would without a doubt get a few.  I am tempted to get a 6'10" MXF casting rod to throw weightless plastics to see how it compares to using a spinning rod for this purpose.....

Ship it to them and they will replace it. I've done it 3 times already.

It was a combination of the aesthetics, neoprene handle and price point.  A lot of people complained about the micro guides being just like lightning rod guides, which while they look similar without ceramic inserts is not correct.  The $149 price was too close to an Avid or Avid X and there were many other micro guide options available for less.  I bought 3 rage rods before they went on clearance and so far two more since they dropped in price.  I really like the handles and the overall performance and feel of the rods.  I like the feel and price point of the new Mojo bass rods as well and will probably pick one up (if I dont buy more rage rods).  I'd like to see them make some of the mojo's available with micro guides.

^That's really the only negative thing I have to say about them as well, all the extra plastic threads from the reel seat sticking out on the top part.  I have seen this on a few other St. Croix rods as well, but not on the higher end rods.  Overall the build quality seems pretty good, and I like the feel of the rod.     Only thing left I have to do is to get a reel and try it out, when the ice disappears.

It will end after you buy up the rest of their inventory :)

I was wondering what is the difference between the Avid Neo one and the regular Rage rods?

IIRC, same rod, only the Avid Neo was branded differently for the European market.

And the Neo was built in-house. The Rage was built in Mexico.....if that makes a difference.

Got 4 for me and 4 for my father.  Haven't had them on the water yet but they seem nice.  Don't know if they'll actually fit in my lineup but it doesn't hurt to have an extra set of rods.  No better rod out there for $50 a pop.  Add in St. Croix's warranty/upgrade plan and it's a win win.
