cottny27 Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I just watched 20 guys in 30min walk out of BPS with the $99 Pro Qualifier / Carbonlite combo. Can't beat it. 2 Quote
Fishin' Fool Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Those Carbonlite rods are nice. You basically get the reel for free. Quote
cottny27 Posted February 12, 2016 Author Posted February 12, 2016 They feel nice and light, but I have yet to buy one. Quote
Fishin' Fool Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I'm proud of myself I did not spend any money today. Keep in mind I've bought 5 new rods since Black Friday. However I did have to pry a G Loomis E6x spinning rod from my hands. Only because my wife called and asked what I was doing. I really like the feel of it over the St Croix LTB rod. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I was shocked but saw a convincing post in the past that the combo PQ reel is different. Disappointing if true. Quote
cottny27 Posted February 12, 2016 Author Posted February 12, 2016 I have heard that too about the combo PQ. The rod is still worth the $100 and you can dump the reel on someone for $40 and be ahead. Quote
SMITTY0045 Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Is this sale just in stores? I couldn't find it online 1 Quote

GetJigginWithIt Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 The PQ rod and reel combo is different than this spring classic combo. Instead of having the PQ on sale for $49, they have the Carbonlite rod and the good PQ reel for $99. It is a great deal. By all means it should cost $200. It is the same as the catalog option of the carbonlite and pq combo. Deffinatly not the black friday pq combo. Quote
Ronald K Smith Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 the ad was misleading on the combo, it says your choice of rod but my BPS only had a choice of 61/2' medium or a 7' heavy with \the choice of reel in 7.1 or 6.4. I still bought a combo because of the price. Quote

0119 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Are you guys finding that the stores have much in stock? The 2 closest to me don't have jack, especially reels. They hardly have any Loomis except bluewater and even less St. Croix. I'm hitting Orlando tomorrow on a Valentines trip and hope they at least have a few Curado's. Gasp, I'm actually wanting to by Shimano! Quote

Gasp, I'm actually wanting to by Shimano! I was pretty disappointed in the selection of rods they had. 90% of it was low level St Croix. They had a little better selection of G Loomis rods but not much. They had a few LTB rods for Croix but most stock was Triumph, Premiere and Mojo rods. Loomis they had a few E6x and a few bronzeback. No IMX, GLX, NRX. Quote
robster80 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 im gonna head up there today and looknaround. i may pick up one of the new 6' tourney special rods to use for topwaters. Quote
robster80 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 just left basspro. madhouse in there. ended up leaving with a black camo terminator walking frog Quote

I can't stop buying. 2 Quote
Nick49 Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Visited BPS this past Friday with a couple of old "trade in" rods. There wasn't much to choose from in the St. Croix area, but since I live about 90 miles away from the store the manager was very comfortable processing the sale for a St. Croix I wanted and sending it to me with free shipping. They are offering a nice trade in /sale deal on their Johnny Morris Signature rods ($149 rod for $104). The JM 7'2" MH fast rod, to me, felt every bit as good in my hand as any of the higher priced rods. It should be an excellent jig/worm rod. Quote
wordty Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I have done many rod and reel trade ins over the years there on another rod or reel...but I assume that on a combo package such as the PQ with rod for $99 I can not get more discount due to trade in? Quote
U-boat Aficionado Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 You are correct, the trade-in won't be applied to a combo price. I'm heading over to pick up a Pflueger President for an ultralight outfit and will take advantage of the trade-in on that. Quote

The guy behind the counter was even willing to swap a righty for a lefty reel but said the rod had to be one from the sale rack. Quote
