Super User scaleface Posted February 12, 2016 Super User Posted February 12, 2016 I have never used a chatterbait , but now I own 6 of them . The first thing I thought of when examining one was removing the skirt and adding a spring keeper , soft plastic and making it snag-less . I know some of you had tried it . How did it work ? Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted February 12, 2016 Super User Posted February 12, 2016 LOL! Forgive me, but I find this quite amusing...."I've got this tool designed, tested and proven to be a fish catching machine....but....I've never used it yet, but I bet I can make it better".... 3 Quote
Jaw1 Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I use them this way all the time with or without the skirt and it works great. I prefer to use them with a spring keeper. 1 Quote
junyer357 Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I normally keep the skirt and use a fat albert grub on it. I try to get the tail to follow hook curve, only a 1/2" behind hoook. Quote

I rarely get fish out of cedar laydowns and even pass them up a lot. I probably need to rethink that. Quote
Dypsis Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Check out the Revenge Viberator it has spring keeper. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 13, 2016 Global Moderator Posted February 13, 2016 I make my own with a swinging football head and an Owner twist lock hook. It works well. 2 Quote
blckshirt98 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Outdoor Pro Shop has some D&M Piranha Beast chatterbaits which use the Owner Beast hooks. I haven't given much thought to using a chatterbait weedless since I get the impression that no matter how weedless the hook is, that big blade in front will catch on anything a hook would. Quote
