I'm looking for a jig rod to cast 3/8 mainly and sometimes 1/2oz jigs. gonna be a lot of pitching cover and structure but also casting banklines. It has to be full handle, that's my only requirement. I was looking into buying another megabass rod but i was wondering what you guys think would be the best under $300?

Orochi XX

I have a xx emtf that I love, another xx may be the answer i need. But I'd really like to have a lifetime warranty rod, so I was thinking maybe Dobyns or loomis

St croix, bass tournament rod. You'll never be disappointed with this rods action or sensitivity.

I just picked up 2 844 glx's from monster.  They are on clearance for 292.50 and then you can enter your email to get a ciupon code that knocks off another $25 bringing it to $267.50tyd.  #stolen!

Megabass takes care of their customers. Plus, there is no cooler rod than the XX at that price point. If I see those on the deck of your boat at the ramp, I know you mean business.

Boom!  Got my GLX 783 Jig/Worm today.  Such a good deal I am tempted to order another.

Could you post a link to that? Thanks

I like the ltb rods, but I just can't do split grips.

Comparing one companies 40 ton carbon to another's is like comparing one companies IM8 to the next.. Pointless. They aren't even close to the same blank and they are not constructed\rolled  the same way.

Okay lets narrow it down to these three, what model Dobyns champion, loomis imx, and orochi xx would you recommend for my needs? Also if anyone knows of any sales on these rods please let me know. I'm think like a 7'2"-7'4" in length. But I'm unfamiliar with how loomis and Dobyns rod  powers are.

IMO you already have the 3/8 oz jig rod from the XX lineup. Perfect Pitch would crush it with 1/2 oz jigs but IDK if you should go lighter on it. Maybe XX Jig and Worm? I don't hear too much about that model.

Probably will be "tax return" sales at vendors in early April and you could probably get 10-15% off a DX 744 or 745. Someone better with Dobyns than I am will have to break down the 4 vs 5 power difference. If you can wait til Memorial Day, there will be solid sales.

the orochi xx jig and worm is what i have and would not be my ideal choice for 3/8.  feels right at home with 1/2 plus trailer - 3/4 plus trailer i think.  i've mostly thrown 1/2 oz plus trailer on mine and it handled that range well.

on the dobyns side, i'd look at a 4 power for the 3/8 and 1/2 oz jigs you mention.

don't think there's any way you could be disappointed in either of those decisions!

Orichi XX, New Dobyns Extereme HP, or Loomis GLX as a rep sample or lightly used would be my suggestions. I believe Kistler could build you a full handle Helium 3 for under $300. Another option would be going the custom route. If you are concerned about matching colors to a reel, length, guides, reel seat etc... it would give you the most user input if you are kind of picky about those aspects of a rod.

What about a 853c jwr imx? It's on sale for $220 at field and stream. I'm holding it in my hand as I speak. I kinda want it either way but it seems underpowered for jigs, what you guys think?
