Maybe one of you can help me . I have a Mark II , bought it new 20 years ago and have maybe 2000 rounds through it . This gun has always not cycled well . It does all kinds of stuff . The spent case does not eject fully out of the gun . The spent case  is loose inside of the chamber . The spent case is not extracted out of the barrel . The bolt does not stay open after the last shot . These are all the things that happen and i probably forgot one or two .I use bulk high velocity ammo , others use bulk ammo with no issues , so this gun should handle it . I have taken it down and cleaned it several times . I actually hate this gun but would love it if it functioned properly . Anybody know what the problem might be ?

Change your extractor. Some Rugers will run forever with the factory extractor, some will need to be changed out of the box to run at all. FWIW, the bolt is not supposed to hold open on the last shot. I have Mark 1 made in the 50's and it's never given me any trouble.

The mark 1's, 2's and 3's use the same extractor as the 10/22, and I have seen first hand this extractor issue in 10/22's as well. My 10/22 runs like a champ with the factory extractor, my buddies would not. He changed the extractor and solved the issue on one of the two he has, but even after an extractor change the 2nd one was not acting right. I gave him a like new take off barrel off of my 10/22 after I upgraded the factory barrel and it seemed to get better. The notch cut in the barrel for the extractor to "grab" the rim on his barrel seemed to not be made to spec.

You can always send it back to Ruger, they have fantastic customer service and everything the make and have ever made carries a lifetime warranty. But I'd change the extractor first and see what happens. Also, I know most people run 22's "dry" with no lube, but a couple of drops of CLP on the bolt guide rod/recoil spring will make a difference. I have seen guns go from not running at all, to NEVER having an issue when a little...............A LITTLE................lube is placed on that guide rod.

My Mark II Target bolt stays open after the last shot. It has a bolt release on the left side at the top of the grip. Does the same as the SR22 I have.

My much older Standard does not stay open after the last shot.

Whoops..............I assumend the MkII was the same as the Mark I/Standard I had......well in that case.............pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. LOL

Try running it with some CCI Mini Mags and see how it performs.  I have a Mark III hunter and it gives me problems with bulk ammo.  I think the bulk ammo runs far less clean than the CCI rounds.  

Also I am sure you know that grip is important with a .22 semi.

My mark III has ran perfect for 1,000's of shots with any ammo I have used. I have not used subsonic ammo yet but I plan to soon when I get my stamp for my suppressor.

Well since I was wrong about the slide lock..................are you "riding it' with your thumb when firing? I know this can be a problem with a new 1911 shooter after shooting glocks or other pistols that have tiny slide release levers/buttons. I have several 1911's that have been bullet proof reliable for me, yet I have one co-worker I often shoot with that is slide  stop riding, limp wristing fool and has trouble with my own guns that never give me issues.

Why not use Rugers EXCELLENT repair service. This is one of the main reasons why I like Ruger.

 I purchased a P95 at a pawn shop years ago, it acted up a few times I called them and they were extremely nice. Tried to fix it over the phone when no results they sent me a shipping label. I did what they said and wrote down everything I was having issues with and put it in the box. In less than 3 weeks I had my gun back in perfect mechanical working condition. The best part was they included a slip showing what parts were replaced and their cost but their was no charge (yes they fixed it for FREE) Now my parts were less than $5 but still that is customer care. 

 I have spoke with them on another gun issue as well and was treated with the same professionalism. If nothing has changed I would say no one can do a better job with customer service than that.

 I have 2 Rugers a SR45 and a P95 both are excellent guns. They eat any ammunition I throw in them like candy.

I'll agree as well. Top notch customer service. I think I had to pay shipping to Ruger, they repaired My Alaskan and shipped it back for no charge

Update . I have went through a lot of different ammos and the gun is cycling almost 100 per cent now . It likes the bulk federals , CCI Mini Mags and CCI Blazers . All my 22's perform well with the CCI's . After all my ammo is spent I think I'll just shoot CCI's in everything .

I never ran anything but CCI Mini Mags through my Mk II Target...never had an issue.
