Hello all,

Has anyone heard if this reel is coming stateside?  I haven't found any of the JDM sites listing this for sale/pre-order yet.  The reel is listed on the Shimano Japan site.

No, but I guess silver is the new black, eh?

I do like the change in paddle, though.

Why does it say Hagane on the side if it's  suppose to be CI4+?

Unless  the side plate  or frame is now aluminum.

I was wondering the same thing.

It refers to the gears

This statement was taken directly from Shimano's website.

"HAGANE is a Shimano reel design concept created to withstand continual use and extreme abuse. HAGANE is an innovation of in-built toughness and durability, working alongside Shimano’s precision engineering."

So are the non hagane reels designed to fall apart with continual use and extreme abuse? :D

I wish shimano would go back to making reels like the d series chronarchs and curados. Now those were reels that were truly designed to withstand continual use and abuse! I wish I would have bought extras and saved them back then. Same thing with the daiwa fuegos  (spinning snd casting).

I don't know if you've tried the newer Shimano reels, but they're awesome. There's no need to dwell on the past when their current products are just as good.

Yes I have plenty of newer Shimano reels. And no they are nowhere near the quality they used to be.

I have every curado since b ... And I love the Ds still and am starting to want to part ways with my Es ... But what I love are my new scorpions and chronarch ci4 .... The newer reels all fish better to me but you get what you pay for if you know what I mean

Obviously none of you have a marketing degree... they pay people big bucks to come up with this crap...lol

All in all, looks like a great reel and I'll be in the market for another 2500 series this year.  It would look good on an Avid X dropshot rod...:p

To the OP, the stradic ci4(current and previous gen) sold like hot cakes and this new model will sell like hot cakes because it's a well made, well engineered spinning reel, and I have a strong feeling this is coming to the US market, if not at the Classic then more than likely at ICAST.

Hagane is shorter and snappier  than Paladin Gear Technology or Cold Forged Gears. Yeah marketing,  but it's not new.

So part of my post disappeared.

I disagree that Shimano reel quality has decreased however I am not allowed to provide examples to support my point of view.
