I am looking for a cheap swimbait rod, any suggestions, try to keep it under $200

What size and type of swimbait are we talking about here?

Out in California they throw swimbaits as big as our bass are here in Florida! Or, are we talking about normal swimbaits in the 3 to 6 inch range?

I plan on purchasing the Okuma Guide Select A Series Swimbait rod in 7'11" in XH. I've heard good reviews and moderate price at $124

IRods have come out with some affordable rods that are rated for heavier lures. They also have swimbait models.

In that price range I would look at Okuma or IRod. Both are decent rods especially for the money.

Agree, Irod 8' heavy or Okuma Guide Select "A" series Xheavy, both are excellent at the $125-$150 price point. The Huddleston swimbait rod at $200 price point would be another good choice.

Don't know anything about the Lamiglass but the Okuma is a proven rod well under your limit.

Get the Okuma guide select Xheavy, you won't be disappointed. Take the extra money you save and buy a swimbait with it.

Lamiglas is located in the same town as Loomis, good rods, made in America.

The X-11 series bounce back salmon rods makes a good swimbait rod, the 8' heavy, 1-8 oz rating is a popular rod at $130. I used Lamiglas rods for over 35 years, however haven't tried the bounce back series with a swimbait.

I had that rod, it was a telephone pole. Looked awesome but I didn't enjoy fishing it at all. Much better options have been suggested above. I like my Elite Tech Swimbait rod and my Fury 795. Both cover what I need. I would like to have the Orochi XX Leviathan though.

I'll echo what Tom said, they are great rods. I only have one Lami Pro-X 735 that I use as a frog/topwater rod for bass, but I have around twenty Lami's for salmon and steelhead from the cheap Cascade Pro models to the Certified Pro and G-1000 models. They are all fantastic rods. If it can land a 40lb salmon then it can handle anything bass fishing will present.
