Super User WRB Posted February 12, 2016 Super User Posted February 12, 2016 I know I sound like a broken record on this topic but evaluate line by it's diameter, not advertised lb test. example Tufline braid 8 lb is .003 diameter and Bravo Toray polyimde 4 lb is .006 diameter. Comparing popular brands thier diameter is 50% larger...ultra lite use smaller diameter line. Tom Quote
EllisJuan Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I just spooled my new Ultra-light setup with White 6lb Sufix 832 braid. Feels nice...we'll see how it fishes. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted February 14, 2016 Super User Posted February 14, 2016 I just bought a spool of #4 lb. Seaguar Senshi mono to try as leader material - now to find some #5 lb. Power Pro to use as mainline - I would love to try the #3 or #4 lb. Power Pro but it doesn't look like anyone on-line is carrying it currently . Quote
Super User Master Bait'r Posted February 14, 2016 Super User Posted February 14, 2016 On UL you will be disappointed w 10# power pro. It's big and chunky and loud. Good luck casting 1/16oz! If you NEED braid 10# Smackdown is far and away the smoothest and most supple I've ever seen. My recc is 8# Gliss though. I use it on light action rods and the casting/strength is insane. No stretch and is very supple as well. Pretty cheap too. I use the green but wish they made a black! 1 Quote
Molay1292 Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Gliss is crazy thin and supple, cast like a champ. I have not tried it in UL class lines, but I would think it would be amazing. 1 Quote

It's insanely thin, like spider silk. I think *** has a small review on it, but A-Jay did a great write up on here about it. Search for it and you'll see what he had to say. X2 like it better than PP Quote
Super User WRB Posted February 15, 2016 Super User Posted February 15, 2016 What is it about line diameter you all don't get? 3 lb test PowerPro is .003 diameter, 8 lb Tufline is .003 diameter both are the same diameter. The smallest diameter Gliss is 4 lb at .004 or 25% largest than .003 lines are. 8 lb Tufline at .003 diameter is over 250% stronger than 3 lb PowerPro and 200% stronger than Gliss 4 lb. Tom Quote

Tom I agree, which is why I don't use their 4lb line. There are certainly smaller diameter options. But for heavier pound test, such as 24lb, I haven't found anything smaller than Gliss and Seaguar Smackdown. I use both. Quote
