I haven't poured any in awhile but I believe the hook goes in first. Did you buy the suggested hook? Mustad has two similar looking flat eye, 60* hook but one is too thick to fit that mold.

yes i got the mustad hook it said to get on the do it website. ill pour some when i get home and see if the helps but now looking back they only had one size of the screw lock and the mold lists a specific size for the screw lock that could be the problem i think as well.

There is only 1 size screw lock. If you are new to this I'll bet you got the Mustad 32796 instead of the 32798 and the difference is in the wire diameter of the hook. What size hooks did you get, 3/0, 4/0, 5/0?

What is the Do-It mold model # and cavity you are having issues with? I can check at home as well to see what size screwlocks are supposed to fit. BTW welcome, I see you are in northern IL. I live there as well. If you want I can help you via phone as well..

My receipt says I got the 32798 hook in 3/0, 4/0, and 5/0. So I don't know what's going on. @smalljaw67
