Looking like the night bite is pretty well dead for the bass this year, but I picked up a pair of twin 3.5# eyes on a Do-It 3.5 Ripper. Yum.

As the morning wore on I got into some LM pitching laydowns. Nothing Pic worthy, but for the 2nd trip in a row to this lake, a musky decided to maul my Sweet Craw. Also saw a couple more cruising. The cooling water and dying grass has them moving shallow into the wood.

Dang those are some beautiful fish, while not a Walleye guy, I can't remember seeing any prettier than those.   The "marbling" pattern is awesome.

Sure hope I can catch a Muskie one day......childhood dream.   A little redneck boy from Alabama dreaming of catching a monster Yankee fish, I blame Babe Winkelman and Saturday fishing shows :)

Ha! No, I got 'em around 4:30am. Took the pic later in the morning. Hit that flat I was finding them on back in July hoping they'd be using it again. Fished it with a chatterbait and caught one dink LM. Picked up the Ripper and had these two in about 5min. I was stoked. Figured I'd have a limit in short order, but those two and another dink LM were it.

Water's down to 69. Forecast is 60's and 40's, so if they're gonna move back onto it to feed in numbers it should happen soon. Fingers crossed.

These are Saugeye. Hybrid between a walleye and a sauger. ODNR stocks them in our lakes. They vary, but are generally colored like these, more like a sauger. Darn good eating.

Very cool, I have caught Sauger below the TVA dams in North Alabama, but had no idea they had a hybrid b/t the two.  Figured Sauger needed warmer waters, which they still could, but I guess the hybrid nature allows them to survive in the same places Walleye can.

Map of their native range.

No. Do-It molds paddletail swimmer. Here's a pic of one on a chatterbait. The 3.5 is an awesome chatterbait trailer. They're hard thumpers. I've found that those times they're short striking and just don't want to commit to the chatterbait, they'll often choke one of these on a jighead. That was the case the other night.

Out of all the photos I’ve seen you post, I think this is the first time I’ve seen you with a crappie.

When I was a kid I thought they were the coolest fish ever

and threw minnows at them day & night in the spring mostly.

But I'm pretty sure you're right.

I rarely fish for them now and am hardly ever around any.

It may also be fair to say that what I routinely throw

isn't exactly crappie friendly.

Haha. You never know if there’s a 6 pound slab out there waiting to engulf the thunder goby.

Crazy thing is that I believe there are significantly bigger Catfish than that.

Everybody has a story about a diver going to fix something above a dam, and seeing swimming Punch Buggies at 200ft ?

Hahaha! And they are all bogus…….

I worked at a TVA divers house once, he said you can’t see 2 inches down there

I didn't but I went back today.

Cold & Poured down rain but I got on a bit better quality walleye.

Knocked the sides off a limit as soon as I got home.

Might do taco's not sure yet.

Wish I could find a few walleyes locally. My river is low and walleyes usually get pretty stacked up in conditions like that. I've tried several times and haven't found any yet..waters still fairly warm yet tho so I'm confident October and November will produce. I have found plenty of drum and gold eyes willing to eat my twister tails.

Water temp was 58 for me today.

There’s an episode of river monsters about man eating blue catfish the size of a car in southern reservoirs too.

Do you have wipers ? I’m not sure if what we have is mooneye or gold eye but the striper and hybrids go crazy on them like killer whales chasing seals onto the beach

Still upper 60s range here. We had a day last week it got to 106 in the afternoon...cooler weather since and coming. Get it down around 64 or so seems to be game on.

Biggest cat I ever encountered was on Guntersville. No clue as to the size. I snagged her in the back prefishing for a tourney. Might have gone 50lbs if I had to guess, maybe more. I fought the fish for 45 minutes because I wanted to get my jerkbait back. She rolled at the boat and I lost my bait. Biggest one I ever landed was on Erie. Channel cat maybe 25lbs.
