You know, I guess I never investigated but after your post and another member from somewhere, maybe MI or MN, saying they didn’t have blue catfish, I’m a little embarrassed. I just kind of assumed all 3 species of catfish lived everywhere, you know what they say when you assume things................

I know there isn't any blue catfish in Michigan. Which is very sad. I want to catch one, but I guess that just isn't going to happen unless I travel out-of-state :(

Having big Muskies makes up for it.

Tennessee has both ?‍♂️ plus big walleye, striper, largemouth and smallmouth. It's kind of not fair what you've got going on there @TnRiver46 ?

We have no shortage of fish and water! I think being sandwiched between the north and the south gives us diversity of species, not just fish. They say the smokies have a crazy amount of plant and animal diversity, especially with insects and salamanders

We are lucky where I live that we have alot of different species. I've seen a 70lb flathead caught just down the road from me and the south Dakota state record blue was caught 30 minutes south of me. I have 2 buddies that caught 2lb crappies last year out of a private pond in town. I've caught a walleye between 8 and 9lbs in the local river and ive caught several bass in the past 10 years in the 8lb range.  Plus my local ponds get flooded often by said local river so they now have white bass, northern and small mouth. Then we have the Iowa great lakes area where my parents live you can catch yellow perch, walleye, bluegills, pumpkin seed, white bass, yellow bass, crappie, large and small mouth, bullheads, channel cats, pike and muskie. Pretty fortunate.

The most impressive part about all that to me is the size of those largemouth! Sounds like Iowa is pretty awesome

Its not bad. Where I live the county does a pretty good job of managing the ponds plus there isn't a ton of fishing pressure...especially for bass...so I caught 4 largemouth over 6lbs last year. Most everyone around here go west into south Dakota for perch and walleye and leave the local fish alone...I'm fine with it!

On a roll with the specks lately.  It's extremely rewarding to tie up a jig in the morning and clean house with it in the afternoon.

Tried hard to get a bass to eat a jerkbait Saturday, only got one bite on it and it was not what I was after, but still fun.

I talked with an older gentleman on a fishing dock for a minute as I was going around him. He said he'd got a couple small catfish, and another fisherman had given him 2 crappie he'd caught from the dock before he left, he just needed 1 more fish to make his dinner. I rounded the point and went into the back of the cove just past him, fishing one of my bladed jigs, when it got absolutely wrecked by this thing.

I knew exactly what to do with it. Tossed it in the livewell and ran it back over to the dock. The guy said he had caught a big bluegill and now with the big trout, he had a whole fish buffet for himself and his wife. Made my day seeing how happy he was to have it and got to think it gave me some good karma for the big bass bite I got later in the day.

I went Bass fishing Tuesday evening. I was casting a Luhr-Jensen frog colored spoon. Also had a Carolina Rigged Nightcrawler setup. No Bass only a big Pickerel and some Yellow Bullhead.

This morning I was able to fish for an hour and a half before work. Caught a limit of 5 Brook Trout and 2 more I released before my time ran out.

Well, after a lot of asking, I finally got She Who Must Be Obeyed out on the boat with @TnRiver46 and me.

Rusty caught a skipjack and dragged it all over the Holston River looking for the striper that got away.

By the time we got back to the car, she'd caught enough white bass that we lost count, declared that my good spinning combo was now her good spinning combo, and told me that have to get a boat.

So I'm pretty sure we had a great time. I'm so glad she came with us.

As for me, I caught my first walleye and may have broken a rib.

Those two things aren't related, btw.

Figure if I behave myself she'll let me hold it for her.

Buy her one of her own. My wife has a St. Croix Avid Pearl/Quantum Energy PT combo I bought her that cost more than a lot of mine. She likes it though and it lets her fish without the constant tangles and issues of a cheaper combo, meaning I spend more time fishing instead of fixing her rod and reel and she doesn't get frustrated and want to go home sooner. It was a worthy investment.

First little muskie of the year on a jig and craw.  I thought I had a really good bass at first.
