Super User Team9nine Posted February 25 Super User Posted February 25 Just one small bass today, so no posts in that thread, but I did find a couple more good crappie - One just missing the magic mark at 2.91 lbs and another right at 2 lbs. The pipe flange in the second picture is 18” for perspective. 15 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 28 Global Moderator Posted February 28 Got out briefly after work, wind was howling and current was 5-6 mph, borderline unfishable. I found like 10 sq ft of soft water in an eddy and was able to get some panfish on worms. Did mark and incredibly large school of what I think it white bass and skipjack, won’t be long until the 50 fish days start happening. Need the water to slow down 14 Quote
Super User king fisher Posted March 4 Super User Posted March 4 We did our yearly trip to Baja De Navidad this past week. Usually we catch lots of tuna, but I had difficulty finding tuna. The Blue Marlin bite was good, so the trip was a success. We landed 7 Blue Marlin, and one Striped marlin in three days of fishing off of Bara. The trip back to PV seas were rough, and we only were able to catch one dorado, and a couple of rooster fish. Normally I let all Marlin go, but my crew wanted to keep one, because it did not look like we were going to go home with a boat load of tuna. The rest of the marlin for that trip and all the other trips this year were released in good condition. We did hook one large tuna that the owner of the boat fought for 1.5 hours and lost near the boat. 14 Quote

That's the top of the mountain in fishing as far as I'm concerned. 2 Quote

The boat I captain had some issues this trip, that I have to haul out to repair. I was hoping to have time to bass fish in March and April, but probably wont be able to get on the water for more than a day or two. I have a couple big tuna trips to get ready for in May and with a haul out, and other maintenance, I will be lucky to get a chance to fish for bass at all. I'm not complaining, I have a fun job, but it is hard to keep my mind off the double digit bass swimming in my local waters. 5 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted March 4 Super User Posted March 4 Yeah I might think differently if I got to Bass fish in Mexico 😎 Hope you get to do some Bass fishing soon enough pal, but until then I'm not feeling sorry for you with 7 Blue Marlin 😆 1 1 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 8 Global Moderator Posted March 8 Got out on the home waters after work. Quite swift but managed a couple, one was 2.20 lbs which is pretty large for a white bass. Got one with the new st croix spinning combo and one with the not so new st croix mojo bass and seviin reel. The baitcaster is spooled with seaguar JDM braid 33 lb and 12 lb seaguar pounce leader. It was bombing a 1/4 oz jighead and original fluke. The leader is still on there from the weekend and holding strong. Didn’t really need it for this application but didn’t bother cutting it off. Only one more sleep until daylight savings!!! 9 Quote

Those look yummy! I'm getting pretty excited, ice is almost out around me. Small ponds are open, rivers open and bigger ponds ain't far behind. Potentially look for some ice out cats tomorrow. 2 Quote
Super User ATA Posted March 8 Super User Posted March 8 Long time I didn't post, We were busy working and fishing and we had fire here that we needed to deal with. Ill report that and condition under another post. 11 Quote
Eric 26 Posted March 9 Posted March 9 @ATA I’m sincerely hoping everything is alright with Tank and his house along with yours more importantly. Also nice looking rainbow trout the better half is holding up. 2 Quote

Super User T-Billy Posted March 10 Super User Posted March 10 It sure ain't much of one, but it's one!!! 😂 Too small to even count toward the season total, but I was just happy to get bit on my first outing after a long cold winter. Surface temp was 38 when I started, and 41 when I left. Calm and sunny with a high around 60 today. Not much in the way of activity, but it won't be long before the action picks up. Highs in the 60's and 70's for the next six days. 12 Quote

I caught a few stripers and largemouth on Lake Anna the other day. Good fun as always, finally got some fish to eat those 2015 Bassmaster Classic Hype Baits. Nice striper! The stripers will be starting to move up in the river here on Hartwell anytime now. Which tells me that for the next month I will be dodging center consoles with silly names wrote on the sides of them. I honestly hate striper season. lol Hole buzzards everywhere when they move into the river. Quote

Glad you got out...but I'll trade your long cold winter for ours any time. 😉 It'll probably be at least another month until we have open water, and it's June 1st before we can fish for muskies. 2 Quote

NO!!! 😂 I guess I should have quantified my statement with the quotation, "by Ohio standards". 10 weeks of ice is a cold winter here. 1 Quote

We've had plenty of years here where there's still plenty of ice on the fishing opener the first week of May. I don't think we'll have that this year, but who knows...that's the joy of NW WI. 2 Quote
