Tossed my tiny rapala around again on the 4’10” ultra light and got 5 white bass and two skipjack, missed a few more . Got dark at 8:15 and I beached at the dock, fast and furious. Going to try to feed the skipjack to something massive in the AM before work What rod is that? Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 18, 2024 Global Moderator Posted March 18, 2024 @DitchPanda, I think it’s called the 410, it’s $9.99 at academy. Very very very flimsy Quote

Yeah that is a nice one, I catch them too in my neighborhood on the east coast. How are you holding it? Lol looks like it's floating in midair or you have your hand in its gill I guess 1 Quote

If you lip those critters you’ll come back missing a digit or two. Plus holding bass by the lip can tear the ligaments in their jaw. A guide showed me the gill plate grip years ago and said it was the “conservation technique” lol. Quote

Peacock bass are very fun to catch, I would even dare to say they fight harder than a largemouth Quote
BassSteve Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 Hey Caught my first two Mayan cichlids for the year so far. I was wondering when they would show up 🎣🤘 the one on top has a big appetite 😆 13 Quote

Initially as hard as a smallmouth, but smallmouth never tire/give up where the Peacocks eventually do… they are somewhere in between, but I have never caught a 5-7 pounder either.. Quote

Yeah and man sometimes they really blow up on a surface lure....the initial strike I can't really tell if it is a peacock or largemouth until I get a glimpse of yellow lol Quote

Alot of years we have ice still now but I've already been out 4 times this year in open water chasing down panfish. 1 Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted March 26, 2024 Super User Posted March 26, 2024 Yeah... I know it's only 28", but I spent six hrs fishing in a full blown 44 degree monsoon to catch it, plus six straight previous skunkings so, IT'S GETTING POSTED!!! 😂 14 5 Quote

Super User Dwight Hottle Posted March 26, 2024 Super User Posted March 26, 2024 @TnRiver46 So what did you do with the lamprey? The first one I caught hitchhiking on a bass I tried to smash with my foot. It didn't want to die that way so I had to resort to a knife. They have such nasty looking mouths with all those circular teeth. Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted March 26, 2024 Super User Posted March 26, 2024 Great job Tim, I'd be super proud of that fish too......only the real ones fish in miserable conditions. 1 Quote

Thanks Alex. I'm just happy to put one in the net. It's been super frustrating lately. That's my first muskie since 2/17. Six trips, around fish every trip with only a couple short strikes and a lost fish to show for it. 2 Quote
