Crappie, white bass, bald eagles, fun day. The crappie were running bigger than normal, but about half the size of what @Team9nine catches . First time I remember not getting any non keepers large.IMG_4916.jpeglarge.IMG_4917.jpeglarge.image000000.jpeglarge.IMG_4913.jpeg

Trying to take advantage of the pre-spawn window that is probably going to begin closing over the next 30 days. They’ll drop a lot of weight and then start scattering, and likely lose even more wt over the summer. Managed 4 over 2 pounds yesterday afternoon, topped by a 2.40 lb. fish. Lots of rain in the forecast, but should get one more shot at them Thursday if the forecast holds.

@ATA I love how aggressive bluegills get 😃 I caught this one yesterday on an 1/8 oz rattle trap which is  definitely smaller than what your guy was trying to eat😉IMG_2721.jpeg.5ff4f4d5536f12cfaa90c0126d68a78e.jpegIMG_2722.jpeg.ab5f6bcadb9f3fb080439c33a19b7606.jpeg

We went to Bara De Navidad hoping to get in on the blue marlin bite that has been happening there for the past couple of weeks.  No luck on the Blue marlin, but we did manage to catch a striped marlin, along with a nice yellowfin tuna.  On the way home we fished my favorite beach for Rooster fish, and landed 25 roosters.  No Blue Marlin, but over all a good trip.

Got a pair of pickerel last night.  This one was about 20-22", so a pretty good one.  Glad it was a longer jerkbait as he had almost 4" of it in his mouth.  The back hook was almost to his throat hole.  I think I need a longer pair of pliers if I'm going to be fishing jerkbaits more this year.  Maybe a pair of jaw openers in case I get into the muskies and northerns.

These are a requirement in my boat.  I keep one larger set and one smaller set.

Nothing worse than a slimy pike that refuses to open its mouth with a treble-hooked lure inside.

Party is winding down with surface temps approaching 60 degrees and fish looking like they are scattering to spawn. Managed one beastie yesterday despite the conditions that weighed 2.91 lbs.

The party is just about to get started here.  Ice is going fast and open water crappie season is about to commence.  Now if I could just find and catch some slabs like that...

Little dock fishing before work . Couldn’t get bit on a crappie jig, they were smacking a small rapala up near the top. Also dropped a nice skipjack herring bout 1.5 lbs or so IMG-5177.jpg

Launched the canoe at 7 pm and saw fish jumping . Tossed my tiny rapala around again on the 4’10” ultra light and got 5 white bass and two skipjack, missed a few more . Got dark at 8:15 and I beached at the dock, fast and furious. Going to try to feed the skipjack to something massive in the AM before work
