Well I got out for 15 minutes today, 33 degrees and got the larva z to work for crappie with a 1/32 oz jig head. I caught 5 little guys.

Another new crappie PB, nearly 17” and a shad shy of 3 lbs. (top 2 pics). Also got another 2 lb. fish (bottom pic), along with a handful between 1-2 lbs. Also caught two largemouth, but these two crappie were bigger than both - lol

The temperature was nice today at 56 degrees, we had 14mph winds with gusts up to 30mph. I fished for 10-15 minutes and caught one fish and called it good. I didn’t want to get my 2lb line wrapped around stuff and nick it, 1/30 oz jig head and a larva z was the bait. The wind made it real hard to keep the bait down also so I accepted my 1 fish victory and felt good.

We went fishing out of Puerto Vallarta for two and half days.  First day was spent mostly getting fuel and traveling to the fishing grounds.  Landed one 50 pound tuna.  Drifted on the fishing grounds for the night, landed 4 dorado, 9 tuna and one sailfish, on the second day, then drifted again the next night, landed 5 dorado, and two tuna, the next day, before heading back home at noon.

I’d love to chase bass, but our water temps are going nowhere fast (still high 40s), and these crappie have my attention at this point - so back to the chase for one more day before 3+ days of anticipated rain. Landed 25-30 this afternoon, topped by a 2.55 lb. fish, along with another about 2lbs. Had 12 total over a pound - big fun 😎

I’m like an MLF king 😆 I have the scale and camera ready to go, and these fish spend about 60 seconds out of the water before being released below the gunwale. The big ones are too special to take out in my world.

@Team9nine, I think this latest bout of rain will be more off and on than the last flooding. Some thunderstorms but not constant, we will see

Has to be Brian's evil twin then - if the jeans aren't holey, it ain't a 'true' Team9

It took a while, but you can rest easy knowing I just wore a nice tear in the left knee in this pair 😉 Just noticed it Wednesday. Let the catching begin :thumbsup_blue:

Well its either going to be 1) gangbusters, or 2) a total failure.

And judging by some of the slabs you've recently caught, my guess is that it really can't get any better.  So its going to head downhill.  LOL

Well the temperature dropped and the wind died a little bit, but definitely still there. I caught 2 fish and fished long enough that my hands were numb and tying on different jig heads was a 5 minute process. I don’t mind the cold but my hands and feet don’t like it one bit. Larva z still doing the work.

Well I got out for 30 minutes today and caught one on a 1/64oz jig head and little swim bait. The rod casted the jig head without the plastic far enough for me to be happy, with it I was getting even more distance.

I got out for a hour today and caught 5-6 fish, probably lost as many as I caught. I don’t really like the rod that I was using and the crank bait made it tricky to get a solid hookup due to its size. But I managed to land one of the biggest crappies that I have caught at this spot so far, so that’s a win in my book. They were not chasing it and striking it, had to work it like a jerk bait or jig it. Wait to see the flash and feel the weight and then play them some to get the hooks in. I made it work and enjoyed it, always more than one way to work a crank bait you just have to think outside of the box sometimes lol.

Ain't much of one, but it's one, and gets me on the board for Feb. I could only get out for about four hours today, and that'll be it until next Friday. I caught this chubby 32" and had a mid 40's follow, but it wouldn't commit. Lake's fishing weird right now. The shad have left the deep basins and moved up toward the creeks. The big schools have broken up, and the muskie have scattered with 'em. Just marking an isolated fish here and there. I can't find them concentrated anywhere.

It’s going to be a LONG time before I can muskie fish here. Season doesn’t open until June.
