I've caught one walleye that weighed about 5lbs and if at the time I would have known they were good eating I would have kept it. Never caught another one since though.

Well, you did better than me i guess. I was a kid fishing off our dock when I caught my first walleye. I lipped it with my thumb!!!

then fast forward to when I was 16, I drove to a dam to fish off the bank. Caught a sauger. I remembered the walleye teeth so I put my hand in it’s gill flap like a catfish. Well the gill flap sliced me open way worse than the teeth ! I got the last laugh on the sauger tho, it became dinner

First Catfish I've caught since I was in high school, and likely the biggest.  Pretty sure I need to now figure out how big they are in my home lake.    They've stolen a LuckyCraft BDS, Jackall 60MR, and Chatterbait Flashback Mini over the last month (2/3 were on Bass baitcast gear), but atlas I land one on a micro hook, 8lb stren, and a 1" Tuffy Minnow.....fishing ?

Left the dock on this gorgeous October morning looking for Brown bass.

Started catching these guys instead; early & often.

Never saw a bass so I eventually swallowed my pride and went with it.

I literally lost count, practically Blacked out the graph at one point.

8 feet thick in 25 feet of water.

The Jackall TN 70 Lipless in chartreuse & purple of all things.

Kept these two for the grill.

It’s not fat smallmouth, but still nothing wrong with that at all!

Agreed ~ and the funny part of this is that just about every time I launch

with full intentions of "getting a mess of walleye".

You know what happens . . . . . .

Nothing !

Got my biggest pike of the year and one of only a couple which is very weird. Was the most lethargic pike I’ve ever caught. Hit like a wet rag, didn’t fight one bit as I reeled it in, and stayed perfectly still while I netted it, unhooked, and photographed it. Swam off like a torpedo though.

Thank you sir. Ill never take having a chair for granted again. My boat has a nice comfy swivel chair but the bench it sits on needs some fixing so I’ve been going without it and just sitting on the bench. I’ll finally get some time to repair it over the winter and my back will thank me ?

I caught my first Coho Salmon ever today! I was fishing with a red and yellow Panther Martin spinner when I saw a few Salmon. I casted it over and he ate it!

Second time I've had a catfish slam this thing. Just as disappointing as the first one too.

Having now caught my second Bass on a big Swimbait yesterday, I can imagine the disappointment that would be relatively unique to these baits.

There is an excitement to fishing them I've already found unique.  That and both fish absolutely smoked the bait.

The first one ate it off the rod tip, a really violent eat. Thought it was a really big bass, couldn't believe it was a 3lb channel cat.

@TnRiver46 I'm too tired to write my trip report - paddled 40 mi last week

Nina got a 28+" red - took her for a sleigh ride through the marsh

ps - I will be back later with a trip report.  I put my long report on FFR.

After Josh posts his day reports on TKF, I'll borrow some of his photos and write my condensed report for BR Other Fish Species...

Maybe it’s just the angle of the photo, but that fish looks unhealthy to me because it’s so skinny. It’s not good when the head is thicker than the body. Maybe you didn’t notice when you caught it.

Not just the angle, it was definitely not in the best shape. Literally didnt move from when I hooked it until I released it. Hopefully it makes it. If that fish was a healthy weight it would be a sizable pike.

Those are big in my book, but I'm coming from mostly catching Channel kitties.

What kind of rig did you catch them off of, and I assume since there Blues, you used cut bait?   I forgot how much fun these fish are once hooked.

A carolina rig with a 4oz egg sinker and 7/0 kahle hook and a big chunk of fresh cut bait, white bass in this case.

This lake produces lots of fish over 50lbs, so these really were just babies for the place we were at.

If you are fishing for monsters, rig the head by itself.
