Super User T-Billy Posted September 10, 2022 Super User Posted September 10, 2022 Water's down to 74, weeds are mostly dead, and the bass bite has been tough other than the slugfest I ran into last week. The cooler water has the musky moving shallow though. This is the third in three trips to lake #1, with another follow, and a bite off. 17 Quote

I haven’t lost a single lure this season. I am using hand tied sections of Seaguar Blue Label on all of my moving lures in 30 pound test. I was previously using 20 pound. Wasn’t strong enough. 1 Quote

Wish I'd have at least got to see it. It was a beast. I can manhandle a three footer with my chatterbait setup. The one that bit me off gave a couple big headshakes at the hookset, then took off like a freight train. Drag is set in the high teens on that rig and it wasn't even slowing it down. Then... gone... 1 Quote

MassBass Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Targeted pike 36", on chatterbait with wire leader. Chain pickerel on a spinner, not the best photo. The chain pickerel is a native fishery in Maine. 15 Quote

Wasn't very big but it really did have nice color when the sun popped out so I had to take a photo of it. I've been on a pretty good pattern with these fish since early August and today was more of the same. I had a bigger one earlier than this one but it came unpinned before we could net it. That's the fourth one this season that I've had come off. For some reason I'm not getting a good hook set in their iron jaws. 1 Quote

Also there used to be signs where we fish on the Alabama river below Selma warning not to keep the endangered southern walleye if you caught one 1 Quote

Your friend did a great job, very organized and easy to get in and out. 1 Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted September 23, 2022 Super User Posted September 23, 2022 Looking like the night bite is pretty well dead for the bass this year, but I picked up a pair of twin 3.5# eyes on a Do-It 3.5 Ripper. Yum. As the morning wore on I got into some LM pitching laydowns. Nothing Pic worthy, but for the 2nd trip in a row to this lake, a musky decided to maul my Sweet Craw. Also saw a couple more cruising. The cooling water and dying grass has them moving shallow into the wood. 19 Quote
