nice musky bait!!!

I was thinking flathead but we don't have any musky here or I'd have probably been thinking the same.

The Guadalupe coldwater tailrace is often jokingly called a Trophy Redhorse Fishery.

We love catching redhorse suckers, it's a sign of truly matching the hatch - we call them Guadalupe Redfish.

According to Gary Borger, the IQ of a trout is 6, and the IQ of cyprinids is 12.

They don't look bad next to a 1918 Thomas Special.

caught that yesterday, did you - I didn't think so, especially since the federal season is June 1 - Aug 2.

Even though mine is off topic, too, I'll see your snapper and raise you

just picking - guess it could be your latest snapper

The opening day snapper above, we fished through our bait.  I got up on the bow with fly rod and caught blues for bait.  The samsonite snapper was on cut blue.

here's manly sport with my friend Glenn - he makes this look too easy.

when Glenn drives the beach, there's an armada of kayakers waiting to follow him, which he doesn't mind - the more the merrier.

What he does mind is when power boats chart his course and beat him to his platform or reef.

You may have a marlin, sail, and snapper, but where's your white bass? ?PW_BM_Elite.png.9f28f3ed00f2824145b0f578efe52583.png

6poundbass has caught his first fish of the year. He caught 12 last night and 15 this morning while I was on my grocery run. This was his biggest just as I was getting home.

I wouldn’t say it was warm but a fellow fisherman said it was in the mid 50s. Early enough in the spring those small streams can be the warmest water around . I also didn’t wade in past the Mendoza line ...........

Last fish of last year was a Chain Pickerel. First fish of 2021 is a Chain Pickerel. Picking up where I left off.

Gloomy, drizzle 39 degree morning today. Water temps in the high 40’s at the local pond.

This might be my biggest crappie of 2021. She is far to be my PB but work schedule and other things make it impossible for me to hunt for them. All released this time.

Trout season opened early this year in NY April 1st catch and release for me today.

Brook Trout were stocked in the area I was fishing on March 31st.

Saturday’s session was miserable until I figured what they wanted second time I went out. A Gold colored spoon cast deep and let it free fall until it hit bottom. Ripped it up then let it fall again. Luckily it was a snag free zone. Caught 2 and lost one at the bank.

This morning I returned and caught what would have been a 5 fish limit plus 1  and a Pickerel.

Well two weeks ago they were spawning on the shoals and the water was almost 60 degrees. Now it’s 55 degrees and they moved right back to their winter haunts. By the thousands!  1-C7076-AB-7310-4242-9485-F4-A98233-E650

@TnRiver46 let me catch a ride yesterday evening for a short sesh.

Didn't get a picture of every one, and lost a couple others at the boat, but the white bass were big mad, and we did what we could to take advantage.

This one was not coming off.

I didn't get my scale out, but I'm guessing this one went at least 7 pounds. :wink7:

This one decided to be rude and pooped all over me, the cooler, and the boat while I was getting it unhooked. That was just uncalled for.

Our esteemed captain caught a few good size Tennessee tarpon and sent one of their heads out with the goal of enticing a striper, but, sadly, no dice.

These twerps can be a real fun distraction.  When they're on, THEY'RE ON.
