Lately I have been pulling in a dozen Rock Bass for every Smallmouth Bass I catch. Doesn’t matter the lure:

Never thought about eating them. I got some fatties, they would have made some nice filets.

When I was a teen in northern MN, mom would always ask me to bring some Rock Bass home...she loved them.

A nice little trout I caught at the lake, me and my brother took a boat out and we also caught a million bluegill.

Haven't had a fish fool me as bad as this on did in a long time. I even saw it's back early in the fight and still thought it was a big bass.

Caught a big one (9-10 lb.) the other day on a Fat Ika. The one thing that indicates to me that it's a cat is how swiftly they take a soft plastic. Hard to tell at first with hard baits, though.

They do usually have a distinct bite, but this one thumped it hard, then just walked off with it slowly just like a big bass. Usually they hit it and run off really fast (channel cats and blues), or hit it extremely hard and just sit there (flatheads).

Guess it must be Catfish time. I caught this 4+ pound Channel Cat today on the Ned Rig

I was fishing a big TRD on a 1/4 oz Berkley half head jig tied to 12# fluorocarbon line, M/F baitcasting rod. Nice fight. He made a couple of runs before I was able to beach him.

Nicely Done.

And if you cooked up a little of each of those together

it'd make a heck of a Stew !

Heck yeah guys.  Bass had lockjaw yesterday but I did catch 4 chain pickrels on the jackhammer, 1 walleye on a jerkbait, a 1 catfish on a jig.  Multi species day for me as well.

Best turtle soup I had was from a snapper a few of us caught when I was at Boy Scout camp....many, many, many moons ago.
