Super User N Florida Mike Posted November 23, 2019 Super User Posted November 23, 2019 Caught this 11 1/2 inch shiner and threw him out for awhile. No takers . The lake used to be full of these and bigger. I caught one that was 13 1/2 when I was a teen. 3 Quote

Tim Kelly Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 That catfish is extraordinary. Is it an albino, or just a pale fish from muddy water? Quote

It didn't have pink eyes, so I don't know if it counts as a true albino, but it was certainly white and not just washed out, the water is pretty clear on that lake. 1 Quote
Tim Kelly Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Very cool. Have you caught them there before, or was it a freak catch? Quote

I've probably never caught 10 catfish total of any kind from this lake and certainly no white ones. I know they did a prize for a palomino trout this spring, but I didn't hear anything about them stocking a white channel cat. Quote

You didn't hear about the million dollar prize catfish program........... ? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 4, 2019 Super User Posted December 4, 2019 Someone probably dumped it in the lake after it outgrew their aquarium. They are VERY common in the pet industry. Quote

Super User Choporoz Posted December 8, 2019 Super User Posted December 8, 2019 No weight...didn't really want him in the kayak with me. For scale, you can see the blade bait in the dorsal. #mikelongstyle 4 5 Quote

Fried Lemons Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 My final fish of 2019. Caught crawling a coolbaits underspin with a keitech 3.3 painfully slow over some shallow rocks. Turns out she was gorging on young of the year catfish and gizzard shad. 10 Quote

I had a blast. We gotta do that again. Next time I'm bringing smaller stuff so them white bass can actually get a mouth around it. Quote

To all reading this, Ignore the warning that says "do not strike with metal object" on your starter. Especially when you are drifting downstream of the boat launch in 33,000 cfs of current ........ 1 Quote

I wouldn't say that was a warning so much as maybe a handy tip. One doesn't want to make a habit of striking electromechanical objects if they can help it, but a little convincing is in order if that object is being recalcitrant. Quote
