I also had a 25lb+ alligator snapping turtle hooked on a spinnerbait, but luckily it shook off as it got next to the boat.

Potomac starting to come alive again with the cooler nights. Had a blast catching schoolies on light tackle.

Also caught a 25lb flathead on the light spinning rod during a night trip but did not bother photographing him.

Silly crappie trying to be bass Monday. I caught one off a shallow rock pile on a 3.5 green pumpkin/goby tube, and this one off a rock breaker wall on a Ned rigged 10,000 Fish Sukoshi bug. Unfortunately for them, my neighbor had been bugging me for some fish so both of them and several white bass were brought home for them.

I did some trout fishing up north just below the Oregon border. Throwing a Panther Martin spinner in the riffles at the head of a big, deep pool. All of a sudden my spinner gets smoked, my rod loads up, and what I realize is a heavy fish flashes towards deep water. I’m able to turn it as it takes drag and then decides to run away from me peeling even more drag from my little 1000 series reel. I was able to stop this run and now the fish makes a mistake by deciding  to go UP river flashing past me displaying the beautiful colors of a wild rainbow trout. I then directed the big rainbow into the shallow, rocky area I was standing in and the battle was over. The 3+ pound buck cooperated for a photo op before it joined some old friends on my stringer....

I plan to keep maybe 20-30 of these 11-13” this year. Gotta show her why I’ve spent hundreds of for fishing gear, right? Happy wife happy life.

Fished a local river looking for smallies and walleye. Tossed paddle tails, under spins and jerkbaits without a hit. The problem was the fish were hugging the bottom and my baits were catching too much current and not getting down. Tied on a blade bait which was able to slice through the current straight down.

My first cast the blade got thumped on the initial fall. I set the hook and immediately knew it was something big. I played tug of war with the fish for 15 minutes before I was able to get a glimpse of a blue cat pushing 50lbs. Unfortunately my 8lb leader couldn’t handle the punishment and broke as the fish made a last ditch run.

I caught numerous smaller fish over the next hour and a half. The catfish were an absolute menace.

I didn’t get the skunk, but I did manage a snot rocket. The wind was tough, about and inch of rain fell over night. Oh well probably one of the last days we’ll get out.

@Fried Lemons one of the coolest fishing reports I’ve come across this year. I am partial towards big kitties. I bet that Blue that snapped your line was a beast of a fight! Did you see the head on that thing?

Nice fish, Blue. I thought you weren’t a crank bait guy lol. Cool to see pics of  the eyes going after the squarebills

Never intentionally fish for drum, but a jumbo can be a good fight.

Apparently the cuda put on quite a show but I didn't see a second of it since I was bent over the gunwale trying to wrestle it back to my side of the boat!

I paint in people's homes with HOA lakes nearby. Have caught my share of bass when running to get a sandwich.
