First time ever targeting lake trout. Had a blast even though the fishing was pretty slow. Caught my first ever laker on a ned rig and the second one hit a keitech barely bounced on the bottom. 5 fish stringer between the 2 of us. It was pretty cold and a little windy on the water but I had to get out and fish. Spring is taking too long to get here lol.

My new PB pond catfish, caught about a week and a half ago. Strangely, caught on a small piece of shrimp! Kept, since it was a male. Right at 24.5 on the tape measure but it was closer to 25 when I actually got it to way still enough to not mess up measurements.

Has been a slow year for those "other" fish, not Friday. First cast of the day, shook my Ned rig about 3 times before a Goo thumped it. Caught 1 on a jig and one on a jerkbait too. Also had a first with a carp that actually ate my jerkbait, took off with it on the pause and was hooked inside the mouth. Had visions of state record smallmouth for a minute.

Some bluegill  I have caught this year. I have had several caught about the size of those. In fact, I got about 18 bluegill yesterday up around 8-8.5 inches.

That looks like a palomino, a variation of a rainbow.

Well the whole "slow year for other fish", has officially gone out the window after this week. Caught a ton of white bass and some huge drum I didn't take pictures of too. Everyone was released safely back to the lake.

@Bluebasser86 Are those saugeye? Except maybe the bottom fish which looks like a walleye?

You nailed it, the toothy ones are all saugeye except the bottom one which is a regular walleye.

1/20 oz jig head with lures a guy gave me yesterday. BTW he told me crappies spawn after bass, but i’ve heard otherwise. What says?

First fish of 2019 in my home waters. This was not the Trout I was looking for.

I went fishing today for the first time since Trout season opened. I was able to limit out on stocked Brookies.

Got these crappie today to save an otherwise disappointing trip. Love their dark coloration. All other crappie I have ever caught were always white

Those are their spawning colors. The male white crappies especially will get very dark during the spawn. He's got his tux on, dressed up and ready to go to the dance.

Spent the day at a local reservoir, Trying to get a bass bite going. The lake level dropped 6 inches while I was there. I caught nearly everything except Bass.

Still ended up being a decent day. Caught my personal best walleye on a jerkbait. It was 24 inches long and weighed 4.5 lbs. After several trips Walleye fishing up north, I end up catching my best in a local reservoir.
