Dorado Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 @JustJames nice combo (Roadrunner and Baby Shad) you might not meet a deadlier crappie lure than that my friend. Keep the reports coming! 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 20, 2019 Global Moderator Posted January 20, 2019 We had heavy rain all day yesterday so I decided to fish underneath the boat slip. I set out some rods with nightcrawlers and tossed a crappie jig around. I caught a small drum with the worms and a bigger one with the jig, go figure. I also lost several fish on the bigger set rods, bait and wait is trickier than I remember . Bluegill and crappie nowhere to be found 7 Quote

Today decided to try for crappies again after a month long of laying down crappie’s pole. I brought just one lure with me, roadrunner 1/8oz with baby shad, since I don’t plan to stay very long. A frist few cast I tried fan casting, reel fast and fish between water column. Until I tried to slow down and hug the bottom by letting the roadrunner sink to bottom every few cranks. Got a small tab, didn’t even think I got a fish until started reeling in. Finally a 12” crappie on the line. I tried to duplicate how I caught the first one and cast to same area. It is a little difficult since my reel is 7.2 gear ratio but I made it. I caught total 5-6 crappies with in 10 mins until the last one got my #10lb braid between rock and broke off (of course he felt bigger than other not sure if it was bass or crappie). Now what do I do fish for bass or crappies, very difficult decision to make. Time for a catch and cook! 2 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 23, 2019 Global Moderator Posted January 23, 2019 Had a warm day with 46 degree high temp. Got the boat out about after work about 5 pm, fished til 6:15 when it was pretty cold and dark. Slow ride back to the launch in the cold darkness at 5 mph haha. We got countless white bass, some were even chasing shad on top 5 Quote
Arcs&sparks Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Been so busy this fall/winter I really haven’t fished. Dumped my ice shack out the other day, and got to use it last night. Slower than I expected, but got this chubby little salmon to cook up. 1st fish of 2019, 11pm right off the bottom in 10’ water. Targeting rainbows and burbot. Very pleasant surprise as these aren’t nearly as common in this lake and I’ve never seen one at night. 8 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 30, 2019 Global Moderator Posted January 30, 2019 Had a little more drywall to tear out and look at some toilet parts at the lake house. Why not put out some set lines??? Got a snow cat 6 Quote

Someone’s stoked on her first laker ever!; I caught my smallest laker ever;?♂️ We are encouraged to to keep the small ones in this lake because of overpopulation. 7 Quote
