It was very thick, but still way shorter. and my 11.2 that was a little over 26" Then Ondrejka's 12 pound monster was 27.5" long. Obviously very fat, but like I said, I'd be shocked if that one wasn't over 10. 1 Quote

alexczarn Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 If you anger a tilly enough, it'll smash a lure that big. A whole line of nests along a bank produced this one. 5 Quote

Super User N Florida Mike Posted December 24, 2017 Super User Posted December 24, 2017 Meat run ! Went inshore fishing with my son today in the st augustine area. Very nice day. Fish varieties caught included Redfish, black drum , sheepheads , whiting, grunts , porgies. spots, sharks , puffers , bluefish ,catfish , sailors choice, mangrove , lane snappers and sea bass. We kept 22 fish total for the table, including the two biggest fish ,my son's 24 inch red , and my black drum that was at least 10 pounds, that Was caught on my lightest combo. Caught nearly all the fish on fresh dead shrimp, except the sheepheads were caught on fiddler crabs. My son had something big pull one of his combos overboard, and he jumped in and was able to grab the rod underwater and get back with it safely.Without catching the fish though. 8 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted December 24, 2017 Super User Posted December 24, 2017 My wife and kids requested catfish for dinner tonight. I setup drifting for catfish with bacon, within 30 mins after located a good spot, I got one pretty good size (~7lbs). "HAPPY WIFE HAPPY LIFE" and happy holidays to y'all. Added*** I forgot I also caught a bass with my bare hand but that will be in bass section. Lol 7 Quote
ohboyitsrobby Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Caught these last Friday. First crappie I've caught in a couple years and the first I've caught on purpose since I was a kid. Pretty fun jigging docks and fantastic table fare ? 8 Quote
UPSmallie Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 It's been an interesting season on the ice so far for me. I've been out 3 times in the last few weeks and it appears to be getting better each time. Mostly just dink perch and throwback walleye, but the bigger fish are starting to move in. First trip out I only managed 5 perch. Two days ago I got 5 perch again, with four being 9+ inches and one keeper walleye. A buddy invited me to hit the bay again yesterday so I gave it another shot. Managed 5 perch with one being my new PB at 11 inches and then 3 keeper walleyes. Most of the fish I've been getting have just been on the minnow and bobber, but I've been pumped to get a couple walleyes on jigging lures. This guy hit a moonshine jigging spoon tipped with a minnow head. Fishing about 6 feet of murky water on 9-10 inches of ice. Buddy also fought a 36+ inch pike for 10 minutes yesterday before popping off at the hole. Looks to be a great 2018. Fish On. 6 Quote

bassh8er Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 My ice season started this past Friday on about 4” of ice. Was on 8” this morning with -9 actual temps. Fished outside the hut most of the morning but my hole kept freezing up. So glad the ice is finally here. 1 Quote

Yeah I usually just sit in a portable with a buddy heater since the wind plus the cold can just be straight brutal. Fishing should only be getting better. Quote
