bassripper2000 Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 hey Guys Been trying out topwater and got some hits on a Hula Popper and Pop R. Very exciting. I wanted to try out some others. What do you think of 1. Zara Spook - Color? 2. Jitterbug - Color? 3. Anthing else I can try? Color? I fish mostly early morning and daytime. I know Black Jitterbugs are awesome at night but will a jitterbug in another color produce during day time. Thanks. Quote
jdw174 Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Try the Jitterbug in frog finish. Spooks or Spook-style lures can be just about any color and work if you do your part. Remember that the fish is looking UP at your lure and all it's gonna see is the bottom if that. Most likely it will see the commotion it causes and just the outline/silhouette of the lure itself. mattm Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 The sway back spooks are much easier to walk than regular spooks. For fun nothing beats a buzzbait(white). Quote
G3 Fan Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I have always liked the Smithwyck Devil's Horse yellow and black. The Rapala Skitterpop I think the color is called lime frog. Quote
Stringjam Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Storm Chug Bug - - one of the greatest topwaters in life. Oh yeah - - - getcha a buzzbait, too. Quote
GatorBK Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Heddon Pop N image jr is my new favorite topwater I like it much better than the Pop R , I can pop it lightly and it has a walk the dog action as well as the popping action all in one I have caught over 200 bass the last couple months on them here are pics of a couple bass from the last 2 days the color I have on in the pics has been my best producer Quote
Brad_Coovert Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Zara Spook or other walking baits (I prefer a LC Sammy, Vixen or similar style) - Any baitfish color. Jitterbug - Black Brad Quote

Super User Raul Posted May 19, 2007 Super User Posted May 19, 2007 There isn 't much to it, get at least one from the different topwater TYPES: 1 Walker ( Sppok, Sammy, Slim Dog, etc ) 1 Prop Bait ( Torpedo, Skitter Prop, etc ) 1 Wobbler ( Jitterbug, Locust, etc ) 1 Popper ( Chug Bug, Hula Popper, Skitter Pop, etc ) 1 Buzzbait 1 Floating frog With at least one of each you have covered everything, if it 's not one then it 's the other.
