Rapala new bait?

Saw this on the back of the March/April 2016 In-Fisherman magazine.. It says "Bass haven't seen this before" Launching Bassmasters Classic 2016. Anyone know what this is?

The shadow raps are a d**n fine lure! Scatter raps, not so much.

I love jerkbaits, owned several shadow raps, threw them a lot, caught a single 12" smallmouth in all that time. No longer own and no intentions of owning another.

I actually like the Scatter rap much more of the two.

I did very well with Shadow Raps. Caught everything from crappies to smallmouth to pike & muskies on them.

I caught Largemouth, Smallmouth, Crappie, Muskie, and even a blue gill on the Shadow Rap deep last year.

I have done well with both, so excited to see what's next. The only downside to the shadow rap is I lost 2 to musky strikes.

wouldn't be surprise if it's some sort of hard swimbait or crankbait. The Clackin/crankin raps are all being heavily discounted at cabelas and scheels for 4.99(7+$ off MSRP).

In my waters the Shadow Rap actually lived up to the hype and was my best producing jerkbait last season. The funny thing about it is that I didn't throw it as much as I did other baits but I went and loaded up on them, this year I'm going to give it a good workout. The scatter rap works, I don't own any, yet, but I will before spring, my buddy let me use his scatter rap crank 5 and it worked as it was said to but if you reel it too fast it will blow out, and it has that unstable feel to it like it is just waiting to flout wide and roll over.

To tell you the truth, I own hundreds of Rapala lures, I own practically every single Rapala model and with the exception of the Long Cast Minnow every single Rapala lure has been a producer for since my old man purchased me those two Original Floating Minnows 4 decades ago. So certainly I´m interested to see what´s coming next.

The shadow rap and scatter raps have both been excellent producers for me on any body of water I have tried them on provided the conditions are right

With the swimbait/glide bait market so hot right now I bet it's a version of one of those.  Which would also make sense why they are releasing it at the classic since alot of anglers use those swimbaits/glide baits in the prespawn

If it is a swimbait I bet it will be tiny. They have to catch fishermen not fish.

I have had a lot of success with the gold and black repalas over the years. The river I fish is very black with tanic acid and that color works well. I haven't used the ones you listed...but repalas have always caught fish for me. Fresh or salt water. Just put some better trebles on it because I have had snook straighten them out on more than one occasion.

I throw crankbaits less often than any other category of lure, but when I do it's likely to be one of Rapala's DT series.

I don't know what's next but I have given Rapala their day in court. DT series will catch fish but not durable. Lip is glued in and I've lost fish with only the lip left on the line. Shad Raps may be the best shallower diving crankbait ever. The Shadow Rap catches fish with some mods. I put a size bigger on the front 2 hooks of the shallow diver. Caught some bigguns. I like the Shadow Rap because it just takes a little bump on the rod to get great action! It's the only way I fish  it, light jerks.

I really hope that they are bringing the weedless shad to the US market, that looks like a really cool bait. only downside is that you can't replace the hook.

I don't know what they are coming out with, but being Rapala, it's worth a shot. The shadow rap lived up to the hype for me putting some big fish in the boat in both the spring and fall.

It would be cool if Rapala joined the large swimbait game, but I doubt it. From video above sounds like it will be a new jerkbait.

Shadow rap sucked for me, but the scatter raps..I throw it in water and it gives me a fish.

I fished the shadow rap deep in shad color fishing the following pattern.. 

Pause

twitch twitch

pause

twitch twitch twitch

pause 

 

the harder I twitched the more aggressive the strikes were. I guess the harder its twitched the more it spins frontwards to backwards in the water.
