Got out today with a buddy and got me all setup with tackle.  I was able to try out a few rods/reels and am pretty set on a Pflueger which will be matched with a Fenwick HMG ML/F 6'9" rod for smallmouth bass.  I plan on going with a 30, but want a 6:2:1 ratio, which rules out the standard President.  This leaves me with the Supreme and President LE in the sub $100 price range .  I can get the LE and standard Supreme for the same price since Pflueger has a $20 rebate for any reel over $99.  The XT is nice too but $30 more, and not sure I'll see the benefits.  It is good looking though.

Which would you choose?

Thanks for your input, loving all the references on here.

I think the President LE has a 6.2.1 ratio in the 30 size.

Yep, it does.

Both have the 6.2:1 gear ratio at the size 30. Same spool size too. According to the Pflueger site, the Supreme has a 31.8 inches per turn while the size 30 President LE has 31 inches per turn:

So, retrieve rate is basically a wash. Weight is close too, 7.5 oz for the supreme, 7.7 for the President LE.

Given they are the same price with the rebate, I'd go with the Supreme.

What's the posted ipt on the standard president? Ratio and ipt are not necessarily directly linked.

5:2:1 with retrieve rate of 25.2

I guess I should ask, is the XT worth the extra $30?  I guess it's not that big a jump and quality gear is quality gear.

I would think the 25 would be better suited to that rod, but then again I don't think it's available in 6.2

I'd just get the regular supreme unless you're fishing salt water

Both models of the Supreme are rated for saltwater.

I really like the Supreme XT, but if you don't think you need it, you probably don't need it.

I have a pair of supremes in the 30 size and love them.  Silky smooth.  Only adjustment ive made to them is removing a shim under the spool to get the line to spool evenly.  Both are spooled with braid, one for senkos and the other for topwater. I wouldnt hesitate to buy a 3rd if i needed a new spnning reel for something.

I have 2 XT baitcasters and I have a Supreme spinning reel, all are great. If you can get the Supreme for the same cost as the President LE because of the rebate they are giving, get the Supreme. The Supreme is a fantastic reel, I have the older MGX, I wish I would have bought several of them.

Thanks everyone.  I pulled the trigger on the Supreme over the XT.  I'm going to use the extra money to put towards a backup setup.

I guess it's too late so I probably shouldn't show you this...President Limited Edition for $59 on Jet.com. The regular price is $69 but if you use the "15now" code that saves you 15% and knocks off another $10. Free shipping too.

Sweet!  Thanks for the heads-up.  I went ahead and picked up a 30 as a backup.  Ordered a back-up MF Fenwick HMG 2 piece as a backup rod.  I should be all set for the season.

Much appreciated everyone.

Your want lose a lot with the Limited 30. I got a Supreme XT and a Limited and can't feel a real difference.

you can use any reel in salt if you clean it.  the XT has a sealed drag, the regular does not

They are both listed having sealed drags everywhere I've seen except on the Pfluegar website? Pfluegar just has it listed as a "corrosion resistant oil felt drag". TW has it listed as a "sealed oil felt drag". I'd be paranoid after using any of my reels in saltwater. Not a huge issue for me though, don't encounter much saltwater in Kansas

Thanks brother. Yeah, this is freshwater Ohio/Indiana river/creek/lake fishing.  If I win the lottery and get a second house on the ocean I'll get some dedicated saltwater gear. :D

All things being equal,  I would go with the supreme over the prez Le... And I own both. Why? Magnesium body vs. Graphite body. If you ever bag any fish in vegetation,  you will feel the graphite stem bend as you reel in the fish and added weight of the weeds. Magnesium will not flinch under those circumstances. Enough said.
